I now work at Bushs woodyard.
This isnt meant to "bash" Bush in any way, just pointing out how screamingly funny it is that he said "I own a wood company? Thats news to me! Want some wood?"
If he ever comes down to visit us. (Which isnt that likely) I will say, "oh and Mr. President in responce to your question, yes, I would like some wood. Have it delivered to my adress.

As for Bush not being aware that he owned shares in a wood company, how many people know exactly each and every investment in their portfolio?
If you ever get that shipment of wood, let me know. My husband is a cabinet maker. We could work a deal and make a ton of $$.

Well the really funny thing is. You might not know off the top of your head, but if someone else mentions it you will go "Oh yeah I remember!" He gets a tax cut from that company, the man is trying to act like a regular guy and people actually believe him!

Not really. Most folks I know say "I have a Janus Mutual Fund" or some such thing. Then they can't actually NAME the stocks in the fund. I'm not surprised a bit -- most folks don't know ever iota of their portfolios.

Exactly. I haven't a clue what I'm invested in. I leave that to Solomon Smith Barney. I think I read somewhere that Bush held 80-some shares in some kind of wood company (pulp, lumber??). That would translate into what, a couple thousand dollars worth of holdings? Shoot, you can't even build a decent deck for 2 grand.

To get very serious - The President is required to place his finances in what is called a Blind Trust during his term of office - He isn't allowed to know what he has stock in.
