It's a remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Here's a link to the trailer: http://mp3content01.bcst.yahoo.com/bmfroot02/BMFShare02/yahoomovies/4/10140065.mov
Just a warning...that trailer is freaky. Very freaky.

Technically it's not a remake of Willy Wonka, it's another adaptation of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I don't trust Burton enough to be excited about this. Big Fish was pretty good, but....

Oh. I was unaware that there was a book. Then again, I didn't know Peter Pan was based off of a book until the other day either...>_>

This was one of my FAVOURITE books growing up - I didn't know there was an earlier film made from it 'til about 8 or 9 years ago...

...looks good from what I see...

This movie will be more true to the book. People don't realise it's kind of a dark story. Dahl never liked the Gene Wilder version. His widow saw the pitch and allowed the movie.....

Depp is too young to play Wonka. Wonka was a recluse in his factory, no one saw him for years. That's why getting a Golden Ticket was soo big. No one had been in there for years, and Wonka never came out.

Depp looks like he just came out of college.

He's supposed to be eternally youthful....I'm guessing.....

Well a lot of Dahl books were actually quite dark (not that I realised it at first). Same with Peter Pan come to think about it.

Probably why I like those types of stories no I've grown up.

A chocolate maker with magic; just look at his factory. Magic everywhere.

Just to clear up a few things:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was published in 1964 by Roald Dahl. A movie was made in 1971, titled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. In 1972, the sequel to the first book, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, was published. As far as I can tell, the new movie coming out is an adaptation of the book rather than a remake of the film, hence the difference in title.

Oh, and the novel Peter and Wendy was first published in 1911 by J.M. Barrie (now often published simply under the title Peter Pan), although the history of Peter Pan is a little more complex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Pan probably explains it better than I could.

If i'm not msitaken Willy Wonka is now Charlie wonka and charlie is willy, so the roles have been reversed. I never knew that Willy Wonka was a book. I did know the movie was founded by a chocolate factory that had the same name was the wonka bars. The factory closed do to a bad recpise which made the bars melt, although u can still by nasty tasting "wonka bars" at Toys-R-Us.

Btw wonka is not magical he is a slave driver. What else would u call little orange men running around doing wat u want. I wonder if they got payed? The movie seems the same but the t.v. kids is now a video game kid. The fat kid is still made fun of :( and yea johnny deep is scarier then hell raiser. I'm prob watch the movie just for the hell of it. BTW if u guys did see the preview the song doesn't really match the movie, its Willy wonka and the new verison is Charlie wonka so yea the song is wrong

Um, no.

Wonka wasn't a slave driver, he saved the Oompa Lumpas from death in the forests of Loompaland. The Wangdoodles would eat ten of them for breakfast and think nothing of it. Then Wonka said Come and live with me in peace and safety, away from all the Wangdoodles and Hornswogglers and Snozzwangers and rotten Vermicious Knids.

Is there some reason Depp looks like Carol Channing?
