Please rank your top three US states and the three you don't like if you have any preferance.

To be perfectly honest, I highly doubt that many foreigners know all fifty states of the US; I certainly don't know all of the British shires, for example, as I am a US Citizen.

I realize that, but there must be a few who know the US pretty well and have a preferance.

I've been to 2/50 states. Hawaii and California. It was ages ago, and we did all the touristy things. No preference.

Well, ok then.

New Jersey must be #1.
Naturally Illinois comes close 2nd.
Hawaii is nice too, but not nearly as nice as those two.

I assume I wouldn't like Alaska. I've had my share of cold already. Can't really think of other I might dislike.

I've being to New England and California and greatly preferred California, though it might just be because of the times I went (Everything was really expensive when I went to New England and really cheap when I went to California in comparison to the UK.

OK, I'll ask what foreigners think of Colorado. And please don't be biased because it was a red state; that was barely true this year, and we're probably going to be a blue state in 2008.

Three favorite: Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Khalifornia. Three least favorite: Texas, Alabama, and Maryland.

Haha! Shires? That's a bit archaic. They're generally refered to as counties, but then I'm British and I don't live in a county, and I certainly couldn't name all the counties.

I haven't been to the US, but if push came to shove I'd choose the 51st state. :D

Like:
-Florida
-California
-Virginia

Kinda hard to choose the last two. Or did commonwealth's count?
in that case bump California down and put Puerto Rico as second.

Dislike:
-Wyoming (Blame the Garfield cartoon)
-North Dakota
-Oregon

Like: New Hampshire and Vermont because we are msotly alike in mentality and they have beatifull scenery. California for the weather and the movie industry.

Dislike: Texas because I have conflict with many values that Texans have, like the death penalty. Although Texans are friendly enough if you avoid some subjects. In fact you can say the same of the bible belt.

Wahington DC. While I know it's not technically a state, I'll put it in my dislikes because it's the seat of the US government and I'm at odds on many points with the current administration.

Third, pick some state with the same values as Texas. Let's say Nevada for their Britney Spears-like marriage.

To be perfectly honest, I only called them shires because they were called that in Jennifer Government.

Didn't Colorado introduce a law that say that the Grand Electors (not sure of the term) would be separated according to the % of the vote each party got?

If so, thumbs up.

Not exactly. It was a referendum to split the electoral votes(I think the term is simply the Electorate)according to the percentages each candidate obtained. However, it was voted down by a 67 to 33% margin. Pity too; I was one of those who voted for it.

I spend a lot of time in California, and driving down the coast in a convertible from San Francisco to Monterray, Carmel, Big Sur etc is stunning. San Diego is another great city there, as well.

Love Vermont big time, and plan to retire there in a decade. It's really green, and really...green.

Massachusets is lovely, and has Boston. Boston is cool. Great food.

I dislike Nevada because of Vegas, but forgive it somewhat because of the Grand Canyon and legal brothels.

Never liked Florida, though I bought a condo there. Disney is cool, the first 3 times.

Wisconsin brings back strange memories of me as a hippy, living with the Governor's daughter and eating emu steaks at their ranch. Really bad pot as well...

I haven't explored Georgia, but Atlanta left me with a bad taste.

The Grand Canyon is far to the south of Colorado, in Arizona. Colorado is mostly mountainous, as it has the vast majority of the Rocky Mountains of the US.

Washington, because Seattle is there.
Massachusetts, because they're forerunners.
New York, because it's got New York.

Dislike:

Washington, because it isn't all Seattle.
Alabama, self-explanatory.
Utah, too many mormons.

1. Wisconsin. I like cheese, and the Packers.
2. Michigan. Interesting shape, darn close to Canada.
3. Maine. Basically New Brunswick's evil twin. Unless my province is actually the evil one.
