If that was true, OH MY GOD!
Well luckily these enlightened idiots will not go far and stay to Biblical schools where they belong.
I particularily like
"Instructors "need to make students aware of the spectrum of scholarly opinion," Horowitz said. "You can´t get a good education if you´re only getting half the story."" The "other half" of the story may not be factual, however, but doctrinal. As the young man in Starbucks said just before he and the incoming freshman got up to leave,"
I wonder what was the missing half of my physics, math, chemistry, and computer classes.
I wonder what was the missing 1/2 of my history classes? English? Language?
Ah well. Freedom of expression does allows for "brilliant" people like Mr. Horowitz to spew....
So more education makes you liberal. This could lead you to 2 conclusions.
1)You become more intelligent, thus you see things more clearly.
2)You become stuck up and think you're better than everyone, so you force your brainwashed ideals on everyone else.
I guess being a political science major and taking courses in philosophy makes me the devils child for thinking outside the box.

i like this as an explaination of liberalismliberal views are the ... logical consequences of exposure to science, philosophy, literature and diversity...
for a society, or a core and influential part of one, to choose conservatism and religion over change, understanding and education is utterly utterly stupid. really stupid.
"Even at Lipscomb, you have to be careful what you pay attention to. My professor said that a few faculty members might lead you astray without meaning to, by bringing in ideas that aren´t biblical. He said that if you´re ever taught anything that sounds questionable, you should talk about it with your minister to see if it´s right"
*wipes hand down face in disgust*
:headbang:
maybe i'm taking this too seriously?

What I found weird was that those guys thought that being Christian and liberal were somehow opposites.
So does Christian = Republican in America now? Sad.

Well, I have an MS and am even more of a right wing, Bush-loving conservative who thinks Rush Limbaugh is a flaming liberal when I only had a BA. :D
Does anyone here think I should go for my PhD?

If you do, does it mean you will turn fascist or something?
A while back ago, there was a thread that asked for reasonings on why Liberals, not Convservatives, were seen as the elitist party.
The link in this thread would've been a perfect example to that thread's starter on why they're often seen that way.

A few scattered points:
- The kind of thinking described in that article is exactly why I didn't want to go to a Christian college like most of my graduating class.
- It's true that people with higher levels of formal education tend to be more liberal. This is not because liberals are smarter than conservatives, or because, as a poster said earlier, liberalism is a natural result of education, but rather because intelligent liberals tend to stay in academia, while intelligent conservatives generally go into business.
- The fact that someone has a PhD does not necessarily make them right about everything. There are professors at prestigious universities who deny that the Holocaust ever happened.
- The truth has nothing to fear from examination. If Christianity is really true, a faithful Christian shouldn't be afraid of having his or her beliefs examined.
