There's alot of hoo-haw around on the forums just now about certain governments who may or may-not be tight-fisted when it comes to aid. Fuck all that, it's not up to the governents to lead the way in charity donations; it's up to us.
I've just given £50 to the Red Cross appeal, I'm unemployed and have no actuall money of my own (living out of my overdraft) so if I can give money then so can you guys. Knowing the one-up-manship that exists on these forums I expecting any follow up posts to raise the stakes (or come up with some lame excuse).
So come on guys: www.redcross.org.uk/ (uk redcross - I'm sure there's a charity in your country that's eager to here from you).

Well, I won't say how much I donated, but here is a link for folks who want to donate to the Red Cross and aren't sure how to do so:

http://www.amazon.com

Yup, the Amazon.com homepage has a link on it to donate to the Red Cross. $5,500,000 have been donated by Amazon.com customers already, more than some countries have offered.

Americans don't rely on their government to do charitable things when folks are in need, we do it on our own. I suspect it is the same in many places.

wouldnt it be nice if this thread lasted or remained active as long as the "whos giving more"threads have. Watch and see....people will bitch about trivial BS like that , but when theyre asked to put their money where their mouth is, they tend to choke.

Donating what I can right now to both amazon and red cross

(edit taking a look there is enough people going to the donation site (red cross) to bring the server to its knees ... I am seeing massive network traffic)

The Ohio State University received all of my money in the form of a check last friday...so I have nothing to donate.

Why is it that Germany donates 1.7 Million in Aid while Phizer donates over 35 million in Aid and Visa donates over a million? Corperations have been leading the way in donations. When I say donation, I mean they don't have to pay them back (cough)France(cough).

Oh, and have people released this donation stuff has been turning into a bidding war on who the least stingiest is.

I have nothing constructive to add. Instead, I'll simply bash France while telling you how worthless you are, because corporations donate more. Oh, and you're all stingy.

Just ignore him **sighs**

I have donated 50 AU$, through my mothers work which is going to match that.

Sunrise (morning news show) + viewers have collected just over 8 million
ANZ bank: was at $500,000 after 1 day, not sure of what they are at now...

Apparently the British public have donated £22 million. Begins to feel guilty that he hasn't donated yet... but then I don't have any money to give anyway. Stupid tsunami happening before xmas >.<
