Is Techno Music Dead?

I ask this question about techno, electronica, etc. because I love it.
How many of us listen to it?
Do you think its dead, or still going strong?
Also, is there a differance in its popularity based upon geographical locations?
I live in Alaska, USA...Is it more popular in Europe than the USA?
I personally love techno, I'm listening to it now, in fact. :D

YES!!!! I think I like you. :D Hurrah for metal.
Allthough I will probably have to listen mostly to Rap/ Hip Hop crap on new year. Can't we kill both genres before new years eve? :(

The dysentery-ridden trash named "techno" which is being released en-masse by stay at home DJs is terrible. It's not dead, but its definately beginning to smell. This crap was always infected and rotton.

However, the so called "intelligent techno/electronica" (Aphex Twin et al.) are some of my favourite artists. I am a huge fan of Aphex, Plaid and various other Warp Records geniuses.

Techno/electronica should tell a story. The crap being released to the public right now simply doesn't cut it: ammature vocals by a whiny-voiced fathead with random bass kicks and horrible pads. They should at least try to make it sound nice!

depends on what kind of techno, that trancey hardcore repetitive crap is dying, (thank goodness) But there is some very jazzy techno thats better than ever. (Ninja Tunes record label being my personaly favorite) But its not nearly as popular as it used to be if thats what you mean. No genre of music ever really dies. most just loses its popularity among the masses and then only the people who truely enjoyed it keep it alive. DnB is good stuff, but not very popular and too much of it sounds the same. Someone said it was never popular and is an underground scene. thats pretty much where it is now a days but a good 4 or 5 years ago, or maybe even more. Some Techno that was very popular (althought not all of them very good): Daft Punk, Josh Wink, Prodigy, Fat Boy Slim and so on.......

some really good older stuff is. The Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Stuff like that

I am a techno fan myself I got club land 6 and Ministry Of Sound The Annual 2005 Limited Edition Box Set for Christmas techno as is to my experience is bigger in Europe than the US as Punk Rock seems to be stronger in the US than Europe

what I would say is dieing and getting the last bit of juice out an orange is pop you can't make many beats with pop because it would have already been done and the amount pop bands that don't play interments is bad at least rock has the instruments and before anyone say that techno artists don't play instruments they do DJ Boxes and Remix boards are classed as instruments not that a different band plays the music for you like pop

Long Live : Techno, Trance, Rock, Punk Rock, Goth Rock, Hip Hop, Rap

Actually, ROCK is dead. Sorry to inform you all, but it's dead and good riddance.

When was the last rock song that actually rocked? I just hear ones that, I am TOLD, by EXPERTs, rocked. But it all sounds like boring mindless crap to me. Rock is like an aging hippie sadly clinging to his youthful glory while strumming the same songs on the same dumb-ass instruments.
