Kočka (cat) = 5 letters.
Pět (five) = 3 letters.
Tři (three) = 3 letters.
- Loop.

Tygr (tiger) = 4 letters.
Čtyři (four) = 5 letters.
Pět (five) = 3 letters.
Tři (three) = 3 letters.
- Loop.

Sorry to ruin the fun, but it only works with some languages, namely those whose word for "four" has four letters. Swedish (fyra), German (vier), English (four) and so forth. Those languages are Germanic, hence they have a relation there. Finnish probably only works due to coincidence. But it doesn't work for the Slavic language Czech, whose word for "four" is "čtyři", five letters.
Let's also take a look at Spanish.

Perro (dog) = 5 letters.
Cinco (five) = 5 letters.
- Loop.

Ladrón (thief) = 6 letters.
Seis (six) = 4 letters.
Cuatro (six) = 6 letters.
- Loop.

Okay, you probably catch my drift.

Enough!

Those languages are Germanic, hence they have a relation there. Finnish probably only works due to coincidence. But it doesn't work for the Slavic language Czech, whose word for "four" is "čtyři", five letters. It requires more than that. In Finnish, there is a cut-off point, which I unsuccessfully tried to demonstrate (as you can't understand what that stuff means). If the original word has 7 or more letters, you end up with an infinite loop between 8 and 9. If the original word has 6 or less letters, you end up with an infinite loop of 5s.

This is because every single Finnish numeral greater than or equal to 7 in value has 8 or more letters in it, with the numeral 8 having 9 letters in it and the numeral 9 having 8. Every numeral smaller than 7 in value (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) has 6 or less letters in it, with the numeral 5 having 5 letters.

Languages which have very varying numeral constructs are the most interesting, because they might have very complicated patterns for which words end up with which number or which loop. Or consider a language where 1 = A, 2 = Eb, 3 = Cid, 4 = Fogh, etc...

The problem:

1. Now is tomorrow.
2. The party starts now.
3.

ARGH!! 17 years of consideration, and STILL NO GOOD ANSWERS!! ARGH!!

What also would be interesting, would be to do this with other numbersystems, such as the hexidecimal and the octave. But, I'm too lazy to that right now. :p.
