Indeed. Try the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Universe 'trilogy' tho, same kind of idea in a different setting. It's brilliant!

Yeah. Douglas Adams Hitchikers series is great. The sub-story Titanic to the series is also funny. Can't remember who wrote it though. I remember he did it naked.

I think he's a good writer but his recent stuff hasn't been very good. The early Discworld novels and Good Omens are fantastic, though.

It's a tribute to Pratchett to be able to say his recent novels aren't that good simply because they are not on a par with his earlier works. Produced by another writer they would be wholeheartily applauded. He's just that damn good.

That's a good point actually. I think one reason they don't seem as good is because I read most of his earlier books when I was very young. His later books are okay but just not quite as good.

By the way, do you know that there's going to be a film version of good omens?

I think the reason Pratchetts newer books don't seem as good is that they are larger. So if you are someone who reads for short periods and makes a book last they won't seem to be as good. I, however, read alot once I get started. Too may days at school were spent half asleep because I had started reading at night and not stopped. Can't do that with work though. Damn early starts.

Ah yes. That I'm not a huge fan of. But to be fair, that's because I wanted that blasted vampire to be male.

I have to admit though that MR isn't one of my favourites. Then again, some of the earlier ones were just as.. non-favourite...-ish.

Monstrous regiment owns. The storyline kept throwing me, which was good. The only real problem was that there were slightly too many of the same type of character so some of them didn't stand out.

Guards, Guards
Feet of Clay
Jingo
Men at Watch
Night Watch (I got it signed!)
The Fifth Elephant

Good Omens a film? Surely the Colour of Magic/ The Light Fantastic would have made a better film?

I can't think of any actors today who could pull it off. Crowley, in my eyes, is very much a character to be played by an actor from the 50's, Which sucks.

Terry Pratchett was my favorite author for a long, long time. Now he's tied for first with Steven Erikson. :D I loved most of Pratchett's earlier books, but I didn't like the Truth too much, and haven't picked up one of his newer ones since then. I should probably do that, though my favorite of his all involve the Watch and Vimes. I like Vimes. Especially when Vimes and Vetinari are together. :p

Not because I think so.

But because out of every person I've asked, no matter what other characters they've liked (and the lists were many and varied), Death *always* appears on the lists somewhere. He's just so adorable I guess.

But yes. Vetinari is the absolute best ever if you ask me. If I ever got to Discworld, he'd be the one I'd want to meet (assuming I had immortality on my side... otherwise I'd pick a safer option... probably Death :p)
