I'd put in half, but make sure it doesn't get wasted.

My dad was nearly caught in an IRA bomb.

Lucky for him that he's a workaholic and worked thoughout his lunch break. c.c

The lesson to be learnt here is that no matter how hard you try, you can't escape even the most well-intended thread from turning political. Or something. lol

lol. Yeah.

Well going back on topic again, with the remaining $1,234,814 and 64 cents (Australian dollars), i'd buy myself a new guitar and a drumkit, a car, a new computer and a week of celebrations. Then i'd probably put the rest in the bank and keep my part-time supermarket job and uni degree, and touch it only when I really feel like splurging on something :)

Oh yeah, and the 64 cents can buy me a nice chocolate bar. Mmmh.

(Though truth be told with my saving habits it'll be gone in a week :D)

None. I'll keep them all myself. Possibly buy a few houses and rent them out for passive income. Then from the passive income, I'll donate 10-15% monthly. (I'll be giving more and more as the years go by)

Honestly, a Million dollars is far too little nowadays. You'll be surprised how fast money can disappear if you spend unwisely. Most lottery winners finish their cash in 2-3 years.

If you tell me a Billion dollars. Then i'll give away 10% straight away, invest and donate on a monthly basis, keeping what I need living a happy life maybe at a moderate pay of a million a year, and the rest I earn to donations.

That's probably a better idea but I know nothing about investing. But the only thing is it's equivalent to about $2 million in US dollars :)

Yeah. I mean, i'm living comfortably as it is, why would I need a billion really? A million makes things easier, but you can go over the top.

I would buy myself a bungalo with guards around the house.
@ ferrari one red and one blue. Then I'd buy 3 maids and the rest to be given to charity.

Thats more than a million I think. Plus, If you give all the rest to charity, how are you going to afford paying your maids and the guards? :D

I am a US citizen (arn't you so proud I didn't say American like 99.9% of my proud countrymen) so I would convert 500 000 of it to dollars (US) and the other 500 000 to euros (because I like euros)

I'd convert it all to yen and move to Japan. Or at least vacation there for a while.

It really doesn't matter how much of the money you give to poor because there are too many of them to help. If you're all about saving the lives of ten people then good for you. But if you really want to help the greater good then try to help fund researchers and programs that will try to find solutions to the problem, not to people who are just going to pass it on to the next generation of people.

Anyway, I would keep half and take what I need to get to college comfortably, then bank the rest.

you havn't earnt it, you just won it, how much, if any, would you donate to charity?

The amount I had left over when I changed it to American dollars. So once I had $1,000,000 I would give to rest to environmental and feedthechildren charities.

$1,927,800

Buy a Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, a house, then invest. Can you say interest?

S65 AMG - $180,000
house - $500,000 (A $500K house where I live isn't a great one either! :headbang: )

Well, thats a lot of money - and Im quite poor so its hard to conceptualize what Id do.

I suppose Id start by paying of my immediate families debt, which would only constitute a small dent. Id most certainly buy myself the education that I crave, and some (but not many) material items, a hot rod to work on (not one that was already built) and the shop to do it, a woodworking shop, a 23' Tige 23V, and two Firecat sleds (one for me and one for the girl Id be taking with me) of course Id need a truck to pull them - so Id purchase a new Duramax. Then Id build a nice little house somewhere on a lake that was in close proximity to a good snow mountain.

It sounds like a lot but really it isnt, so with the money left over Id take care of one of my biggest desires, Id travel. To everywhere in the world, and because Id have enough money not to worry about working - Id contribute time during my travels to humanitarian aid. I could see myself doing that for quite a few years, until Id really had the chance to feel as if Id helped, and to experience as well as learn from some interesting cultures abroad.

Within say 10 years the money would be gone, and I could fall back on my education to support myself, but it wouldnt be hard, since Id still be able to live a modest lifestyle. I wouldnt want to spoil myself with too many lavish things and render myself unable to appreciate the things that matter to me in life as I currently know it.

I think that would do. :)

Well, I figure I would donate/have it stolen about half of it to the government, then with the rest, stock guns and ammo, for the coming war.

Charity begins at home. I'd give my sister and my friends each #20,000, paid directly to the principle of their mortgages. And pay off mine. :)
