I'm gonna download a new internet browser, cuz I wanna see if it really is superior to IE.

But I forgot the name of this so-called "superior" browser. Can anyone tell me? I think it was Mozilla or Firefox.

Firefox is built off of mozilla. Some people like it (Firefox) more than mozilla, because it's a little less bloated.

You might experience some problems with "active x" controls on some sites using firefox though, so remember to keep IE loaded on your computer, just set firefoxz to be your default browzer and youll be ok.

Happy surfing dude. :)

Why the hell do people LIKE tabbed browsing? I've had to use a browser with tabbed browsing(Safari; it's the browser we have to use at school), and I friggin HATED it. Luckily, I found out how to disable it.

Why the hell do people LIKE tabbed browsing? It's easy to use. It makes opening a new page without closing the old one much faster than opening something in a new window. It allows me to open a new site without leaving the old one and still keep only one instance of the program with the same controls. It allows me to have dozens of open websites without any cluttering up. Those are the main reasons I, personally, like tabbed browsing.

I like FireFox, but am not a fan of tabs. The menu system is just like IE (I find the Netscape menus confusing).

Oh yes, if you're into text-only browsers ... get Lynx.

It makes life so much easier when you are looking at like 8 pages at once....

And, the stupid school disabled tabs in Safari... I had to go searching just to find where to enable it again... and they keep disabling it.... Damn, do they think that middle schoolers are incapable of using a tabbed browser?

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

^^pretty easy.

If I had to choose only one reason to love Firefox, it would be the tabs.

Of course, I don't have just one reason :D

We use Firefox, AVG virus scanner and Ad-Aware and its all going pretty well. Since we started using Firefox we have had far fewer security alerts from Ad-Aware (spyware scanner) compared to when we used IE.

Downsides, some few webpages don't work well in Firefox (same problem with Opera). I understand this is usually because the page is badly written and IE is "making up for it."

I recommend Firefox.

Well, I'm trying out Firefox right now...and I think it might actually be quite good, though the screen size difference might take a bit of getting used to.

In Windows, which is what way too many people use, it cleans up the taskbar, and keeps things from getting piled up and lost down there.

I've decided; I'm not going back to IE ever, unless I need to for some odd reason.
By the way, is anyone other than me experiencing problems with the Flash plugins for Firefox? If so, how do I fix it so they download?
