*Arrives at the lake as the early morning mist is still on the mirror like lake*

I love to fish. Who the fuck cares if I catch anything or not? Fishing is Zen incarnate.

Nice to see other fishermen (women?) around the forums. :)

I hate fishing :p.

If I'm gonna go somewhere quiet to think and ease back, I'm gonna do it without having to deal with poles, hooks, and smelly fish :p

Once I was fising for salmon in a bay off the Oregon coast, and suddenly I felt a huge yank on my line. I started to reel it in, while keeping it away from the many other boats in my area. I struggled with it for about 5 minutes, it must have been a 40 pounder, and I suddenly lost a lot of line and the guy swam into the pilings and snapped the line. That really sucked. But I love fishing, I don't mind the smell, I've got a horrible nose.

Boy Scouts. We went fishing in a Lake in Northern California. There were five of us fishing off of the dock, standing more or less in a line. When Number one caught a Sunfish. We weighed it and threw it back in... less than a minute later, number two caught a Sunfish. Weighed it. and returned it to the lake. Again less than a minute, yep, number 3 pulled out a Sunfish. After tossing it back in, we noticed that the weight was the same as the others... as number 4 pulled up a Sunfish. This time, we watched it as we set it back into the water... It swam in circles a few times and went for Number5's bait.

After weighing it. we kept it in a bucket until we were done. Then we released it after all, we didn't want this suicidal fish. Not that we could take it out of the Reservation anyway.

Last time I went fishing (out on a boat) about 2 weeks ago, a dolphin paid a visit, and it was kinda cool feeding it, touching it and stuff.

Then, we caught a huge whiting. Well, the head of one. We got about 8 huge whiting heads before we gave up and went home. They would have been a good meal. :( I don't like dolphins anymore.

Never thought they could be so mean...to steal your catch.

We only have ringed seals around here and they don't come anywhere near you.

It wasn't just that either. It actually threw one fish body out of the water and started playing with it to rub it in

They really are smarter than we think :p

I know a secret spot out in the country where you can routinely catch a bream every 5 minutes. Only a handful of people know about it, and it's been that way for a few years. :D

I prefer the fly fishing myself. I like rivers and streams. Catch and release all the way! It's not the keeping but the act of fishing itself I enjoy. Besides, after you catch it you have to clean it. That's just nasty! Same thing with hunting. Wandering around in the woods is fun. But I use a camera instead of a rifle these days. The act is very similar, and there's no skinning and dressing my kill any more with a camera.

LOL! That's a good one. I F**KING hate poachers! No, let me really spell that out. I FUCKING hate poachers. It's one thing to hunt to feed your family, but this isn't the age of the kings forest anymore. You can go to the grocery store and shoplift if you really need to feed your family.
