Yep ... Susan Sontag has died. :(

In a world of false images and distorted truths, she defended the honor of free thought. She was one of America’s foremost writers and intellectuals.

She will be missed.

ps. I know it's just a matter of time before some neocon yutz comes in screaming about how she was a traitor and a commie, but oh well. My message has been put out there anyway.

No offense, but I'm still thinking "who?". I apologize for being ill-informed.

Still haven't really heard of anything she wrote. Maybe I've been reading too many technical manuals and such lately.

Bwahahaahahahhahahahaaha. Sadly, you are correct, she was considered by many to be a great writer. But then, many people also believe most of what F9/11 said and there are many that believe what Jerry Falwell says. The amount of people that believe in somehtings greatness does not by any means it is worth anything.

I'll admit that On Photography and a couple of short pieces are the only things I've read by her. Despite this I'm sorry to see her go, she presented her ideas in an interesting and stimulating manner and seemed to help to create some kind of fusion between the European and American schools of thought. The world needs more intellectuals...
