The internet has gone too far?

Haha oh man, this is greatness: go here (http://www.eq2permafrost.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=216&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
I'm sure many of you have heard of this by now. If you haven't, then basically, some tool playing Ever Quest II on-line was cybering with some girl, and "cheating" on his internet GF, and got caught by a wonderful person who was "invisible".
While this is obviously hilarious, it makes me wonder..has the internet really gotten this bad? Go here (http://www.ubersite.com/m/54792%5B/url%5D)
for explanation. What do you guys think?

Van Goh cut off his ear and gave it to a prositute he had obtained the services of but a few times. People still buy mail order brides from other nations.
The internet isn't bad. Its just a tool for the tools tooling around on it. It does however, provide all of humanity with a showcase for the comedy of errors.

The internet hasn't gone too far. Some maladjusted idiots have. It's the same with everything. You got yer religious whackos, Trekkies, even those crazy D&D kids who take it way too seriously and start acting cooky. It's not the internet's fault.

The Internet cannot stop. Its is the pinnical of human desire: people want to be together, to be assimilated into larger structures, the internet is the largest of such structures. The Internet will always exist, or be destined to exist, as long as humanity has its current instinct.
It can be set back, it can be temporaly paralysed, but never destroyed in the true sence of the word.
This post may be confusing/false/boring but it is thought provoking.

I've seen shit WAY! WAY! worst than that. I mean 9-year old underwear model in suggestive positions.
And the bottomless poop-chute.
And the red-eyed lizard babies that are sickening enough to make a grown man cry.
And the bloodly newborn and the huge, blue, spiky back massager.
And strange fetish videos from Japan.
And stuff even worse than that.
EDIT: Changed "phallic object" with "Back Massager"
And "Anus" to "Poop-chute"

Dude, that's a mess. A good argument for ultrasound and abortion.
I would like to see how you would manage that :p
Its easy, you just set up a chatroom where they keep their emails private, say its the next (insert game here)con chat room, and when they show up, offer them some great item as a reward if they finish the rehab. ^_^
Just make sure it has a dice roller in the chat, to settle the arguements.

Stop dissing online relationships. You may think it's pathetic or stupid or that the people in them should get a life. What's so fucking WRONG about finding love that's not in your immediate vacinity? Is society still so narrow-minded that they can't comprehend the fact that you can love someone hundreds or thousands of miles away? That you MUST find love in your immediate vacinity or it's pathetic?
Yeah, there's a lot of people just playing around with an internet "g/f" or "b/f". But there's also those who are totally serious, even those who meet IRL and end up getting married. And end up having more stable marriages because they actually spent time (some more than 10 years) GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER instead of just getting to know each others' physical appearance. In that way the internet is truer than RL. You get to know a PERSON, not their body.
SO SHUT THE F*** UP ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!

You would have to understand the mentality of the EQ players. I knew a guy whose mom called the cops because he never returned her phone calls - he was playing EQ.
Convo I overheard with the same guy:
Roommate: Are you still playing? Did you take the final this morning?
Guy: It's finals week?
Needless to say, he failed out of college.

Until you meet someone IRL, you have no idea what they are actually like. Therefore, while one can certainly develop an emotional attachment to an online persona, you can't really be in love with someone you have never even met.

There's a difference between enjoying having a conversation with someone and being in love with them, which is all your own opinion.
In my opinion love (meaning love for a person I would marry, not my mom) would have to stem from actual contact. Seeing a person in their full self. Anyone can sweet talk someone over an instant messeger. If that's how you get your enjoyment good for you. If tthat's the only sense of "love" you ever feel though I feel bad for you, because in MY opinion you are missing out.

What you are all forgetting about is that an online can become a real life relationship. There are these amazing things none as "telephones." And, if both parties are consenting, they meet and a new happy love is born. Or, well, not. That's love for you, the fickle bastard.

The key point there is that you are taking it beyond the level of two anonymous people online and actually meeting a RL meatbody *obscure book referance*.
