But... it´s waaay to slow for me (more into DragonForce, Therion(their fast sh*t) etc.), but none the less awesome. Glad to see that the swedish viking metal scene isn´t dead... yet.

Hammerfall and Opeth can't really be described as new(ish).

It depends on your definition of "new." Opeth has been around since about '91, which isn't long against bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or Metallica. And Hammerfall got started the same year as Nightwish (i think), 1997.

I would just like to make it clear that Amon Amarth is utterly offensive to Christians like myself (especially their early stuff) and they are so incredibly awesome that I don't care.

Ride for Vengeance, Victorious March (and later Siegreicher Marsch), Death in Fire, and anything on Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds are classic and and I can only describe them as "Groin-Grabbingly-Good."
