I was just simply wondering if there are other games (free preferrably) out there like Nationstates?? I am having a blast running my own country. So I just can't help but wonder if there are othero nline games like this where you can do the same thing - such as run your own city or planet.

Let me know. :)

I have played a few online ones but they're mostly crap.

Here are some non-online games, some of which you can probably get from www.the-underdogs.org as abandonware that you might find interesting.

Shadow President
Balance of Power
Crisis in the Kremlin
Civilization
Hearts of Iron (Focuses more on the war aspect)

(Though I originally downloaded it as warez I bought it 'cause I liked it so much. Aren't I a good boy. :p)

But the first three are downloadable because they're out of print.

I remember crisis in the Kremlin when it was released. I remember it was unwinnabel. Now I'm older and wiser and it's still unwinnabel.

When you're older and wiser, you generally should know how to spell, "Unwinnable".

Crisis in the Kremlin

Do you have a manual for this one? I can't find one. And I would realy like to know what to do about the reserves. Cause each year I have a bigger reserves deficit. :(

Unfortunately no. But to eliminate the reserves problem, make sure you don't overspend your budget. Keep a surplus of about 20 (assume it's in millions of rubles?). If you really need the cash for food etc. you can overspend a bit but you'll have to cut the budget the following year. With luck, the economy should grow if you continually invest in raw materials, agriculture, transport and especially manufacturing (but you need a lot of raw materials before manufacturing becomes really effective). I find investing in raw materials helps a lot because you can build up assets which are automatically sold off to balance the budget if you go a little bit under. Oh yes, and don't forget to research. Inventing the AIDS vaccine and an orbital factory helps a lot :p

I if I recall correctly, you *can* win the game by surviving until 2025 (maybe 2030), and there are several different endings depending on your faction, global tension, etc. It's very tough though.

Thanks!!! :) Any advice on how to keep the republics, Ukraine, Armenia etc..in the union?

Yeah, ok. But it's just so damn hard to keep everyone happy. Especially the nationalists and hard liners. And for some reason I was ousted when I nuked China.

Hey, I remember Shadow President. I think I'll go download that now, thanks for the heads up. I seem to remember getting assasinated an awful lot though (many, many bullet holes in my screen).

Oh, and The Underdogs is the bestest game site in the whole wide world. That is all.

One of my favourite political games is Hidden Agenda which is set in Latin America. You can download it here: http://www.abandonia.com/game.php?ID=138&genre=strategy
