Sick of all the anti-gay threads

Yes, it is possible to not read them, but when they keep appearing at the top of the list of latest topics, it gets really depressing. (and makes this a hostile environment)

Any chance that we could take a new year's resolution to ignore the trolls?? Seeing the same old vitrole every time I log in is getting me down.

I have participated in some great discussions and learnt lots from those who try and counteract the ignorant, prejudiced and insane - however, if the thread title is horrible - let's not bother. It just serves to bump the thread, rather than letting it die a death from lack of attention.

I'm not suggesting total lack of response - just only in threads that at least have neutral titles.

Thanks, and happy holidays to those who celebrate diversity

I agree; I too am sick of all of the anti-gay threads. It's ridiculous and idiotic. >_>

you know what, ill do one better: anyone that makes an anti-gay topic: im sending 15 leather clad men with batons to pummel and rape you. in thongs. with whips.

I'm sick of all the threads with anything to do with homosexuality, pro or anti.
Can't we just all agree that we don't agree on that subject and then move on to a new and more exciting topic?
Czecho-Slavakia
26-12-2004, 11:28
We could, but that would require an average IQ of 90 among the people in this forums, and im sad to say its more like 2.

ahh well, i'd have thought that people like you and i bring it up to about 3.

What about people who like that sort of thing? Wouldn't you just be encouraging them?

26-12-2004, 11:51
you mean those homophobes that are actually gay, just havent come out about it?

"ooh, gay people are disgusting and ooh... hello bob... 'wank wank wank' or... is it 'push push push'" im not sure...

then we just beat them to death with angry badgers.

as for me bringing up the iq... hah... if anything, im a bigger dumbshit then everyone here. im just opinionated. ;)
Butcherstan
26-12-2004, 11:55
why don't we just send badgers in leather? they'd do a much better job anyway.

I thought IQ was measured in strength of opinion...

26-12-2004, 11:59
IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient; it's a measure of how intelligent you are, but not how smart you are. For example, I have a 188 IQ, but I don't know all that much more than the average adult. Just because someone has a high IQ doesn't mean they're automatically a genius.
Czecho-Slavakia
26-12-2004, 12:02
no, iq is how well you can connect things together, like a puzzle.

intelligence is really beign able to make connections in your mind. when you are able to connect... say... beer to astronauts through algorithm, then it actually makes a physical change in your mind.

thats why the biggest dumbshit in the world can have an iq of 180.

but, if you think about it, opinions are connections...

sorry, im spewing shit, excuse me.

That was sarcasm, having an IQ of 345 myself I understand what IQ stands for.
PIcaRDMPCia
26-12-2004, 12:04
That's certainly a good way of looking at it; I certainly am capable of connecting ideas more easily than most people. I'm able to wrap my head around time travel without getting so much as a slight pain in my head, I know some basic quantum physics and I'm only seventeen...and so on. The point is, IQ does not always translate to genius, nor does low IQ always translate to moron.
Czecho-Slavakia
26-12-2004, 12:07
idiot savants are mentally retarded geniuses. they are unable to function normally, but in one way or another are complete geniuses. usually in math.

and again, the brain makes an ACTUAL PSYICHAL change when connections in memory are made. thats what that feeling is when you just get something, like a joke or a math problem, or why the october revolution in 1917 happened.

Being gay or not is a choice.

Sex, like food is a human need. Who cares what you eat. Hence, who cares who you decide to have sex with. It's not like the gay forces the straight to follow their path.

You got to do what you got to do. If you have different preferences then others, who are we to stop you. It's not like you are hurting anyone.

Strangely enough its males who makes so much noise rather than the females. What are you scared? Jealous? Shees ppl. Get over it. Move on.

Maybe some people are sick of all the:

"Explain why gay people shouldn't get married"

"Abortion a womans right"

"Guns why they should be banned, even though I don't live in the US"

"Stupid rednecks you voted for bush";

threads.

Live with it.

Or, we could choose to complain about it in the hope that something is done to fix it. If enough people refuse to post in those threads, then eventually the reccurring topics will die and we can get a fresh batch.

That or a small group of NSers could get together and influence some major change in the world's political climate, which would also influence debate of other topics

Ah heh, no. It's not. Perhaps in a few rare cases, but other than that, homosexuality is completely natural; you're born that way. It's not a disease, and it's not a choice. It's who you are. Plus, you need to learn something: do you see heterosexual love as being nothing more than sex? Probably not. Then why is homosexual love about nothing but sex? Thing is, that's not true either; they have the same kind of varied relationships we do.
Curtis, maybe you need to learn to stop being so bigoted; after all, you're responsible for one of these anti-gay threads, no matter how you try to reason it.

Kinsey who? Whomever he is, he's been proven wrong, so his theories are meaningless.

Yes, I can mostly sit back and watch the parade of ignorance with compassion and some amusement...I think that I'm just a bit over it because it's supposed to be the season of good will and peace and that's not the tone of the current thread titles.

But, to whoever told me to "just live with it" - I do, every day, thanks very much. But I'm not going to be silent about how it affects me.

I am heartened that there are lots of people willing to demonstrate that they are not hostile, and that gives me hope for the new year ahead.

no no no, homosexuality is a disease, and medicine will be made available by 2006.

I didn't see where his point was off subject, the thread was about changing subjects of objectional threads, and he spoke his part. I think the inapporpriate post was the one argueing about how being gay is a choice, and many of the ones past it talking about being gay and such.

It would make this a stronger thread if people could stay on topic, and not push a close minded state that is found on both sides.

Funny. I've never seen an anti-Christian thread. I've seen threads asserting that Christians don't have the right to force their beliefs on others, but never an anti-Christian thread.

Just because someones view is different to yours is no reason to call it 'trolling'. Go and fight for what you believe in and perhaps you might persaude them to a more tolerant point of view.

Lotsa luck, getting everyone to ignore trolls is an impossible task. Someone ALWAYS bites.

I see 'em all the time. Constant accusations about how "christianity is wrong", "religion is evil", and such. For believing in basic Christian tenets, I'm called a fundamentalist bigot and racist. (Despite the fact that I don't even mention race.)

And a quick look at the first page of general today - 6 (count 'em - 6) anti-gay threads, and not a single anti-Christian one.
