The Pokémon games have pretty decent gameplay and replayability once you get into it, but Diablo II: Lord of Destruction is pretty high up there, too. I'm a big RPG fan, so I'll play most 3/4 isometric-view single-player RPGs (like Lionheart or Sacred, for example), plus Morrowind and Fable. I don't really like Final Fantasy that much; I like my battle systems either turn-based or real-time, preferably not a blend of the two. MMORPGs were never really my cup of tea, either.
I'll go with Final Fantasy VII. Honourable mentions to: Morrowind, Half-Life, Deus Ex, Medeival: Total War, Age of Empires 2.

Final Fantasy 3 and 7 are cool!
But Chrono Trigger takes the prize for #1
Crono comes in Number Two for me, and the Metal Gear series is Number Three.
I would probably only admit this on the net, but Banjo-Kazooie and a bag of hydro was the most fun I've had with vidgames since Genesis debuted.
So many to choose from...my favs. would have to be:
Civilization II
Civilization III
Simcity 3000
Jurrasic Park:Operation Genesis
Nethack
The Monster Rancher series
the .hack// series
Harvest Moon:Back to Nature
Harvest Moon:A Wonderful Life
Doom II
Dragon Seeds
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Zoo Tycoon
The Pokemon series (hey, the games ARE addicting and fun. Admit it. You just have to ignore the stupid 7-year old fans and pay attention to the multitudes of 15 year old and older fans)
Blast Doors
the Genesis-era Sonic the Hedgehog games
The Sims is...odd. I actually think it's boring(if the Sims wasn't around, would ANYONE think that a game where you make people go about everyday life would be fun? I wouldn't...), but I still play it at times. :/ Of course, it HAS to have 130975203975 expansion packs, each of which eats up a fifth of your hardrive space...

that is because they were dissapointing, well halo 2 was, now me likes me some half-life 2 and a little paper mario, but we cant forget morrowind, now that is the best game ever, and the original half-life, holy shit so many, I could go on and on, but HL2 just kicks ass, halo and halo 2's ass! :D

i donno, its tough. i definitely love the ff series, most notably 1, 3, and 8, but metal gear solid for psx was great too, and i definitely had alot of fun with the thps series, and d2 was also hardcore, and so was dead or alive 3 for xbox. i dont think i could pick a favorite game, just as i cant really pick a favorite band or song. it varies with what im into playing at the moment i guess.eh.
^ pointless post.
I LOVE the Halo series.
But the most spectacular, wonderful, fabulous, ultimate, super, fun, mad skillz game ever created is Minesweeper.

Chrono Trigger. No contest. Square Enix must be run by mentally retarded rhesus monkeys if they don't plan to make a sequel to Chrono Cross. Second place goes to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Also high on the list, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (awesome music/dungeons/concept), Final Fantasy 1 (I just love the characters. Read the webcomic at Nuklearpower.com, damn you), and Metroid Prime (great music, gameplay, graphics).
Golden Sun 1 and 2
I've played those two so many times I'm sick of them.
Oh, and Kingdom Hearts. Although I wasn't too happy with being stuck with Disney characters, the story was awesome.

As far as RPGs are concerned. No one has ever been able to improve upon Final Fantasy 7 in any significant way. Chrono Trigger and Xenogears are tied for a close second. Chrono Cross and Xenosaga episode 1 were among the most disapointing experiences of my life.
GTA and Metal Gear are neck and neck for Action/Adventure
Klonoa 2 for platforming.
Devil Dice for puzzle.
Once you get into it FFTactics is a really incredible game with a surprising replay value.
Buy I've wasted more time playing FF7 then any other game. In fact I think I'll go kill emerald weapon RIGHT NOW

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts is definitely cool; awesome graphics and gameplay. I found the Magic-casting system a little cumbersome (but I'll probably get used to it with continued play), and the replayability potential doesn't look massive, but it's still a load of fun.
Final Fantasy III/VI was pretty good, as was Kingdom Hearts. But Ico takes the cake.
Ico is possibly the most underrated game ever. I thought it was stupid, but I bought it anyways. Turned out to be a fabulous game.

DooM, the origonal.
Nothing beats Doom in my opnion. And I loved every version, and have all but Doom64 and Doom3 (I have: Doom, The Ultimate Doom, Plutonia, Evilution, Doom 2, Doom (SNES), and Doom (PSX)) as well as all four books (Doom: Knee Deep in the Dead, Doom: Hell on Earth, Doom: Infernal Sky, Doom: End Game)
But Harvest Moon (SNES), and Halo (Both 1and 2, for Xbox) are a close second and third.

I very much enjoyed Baten Kaitos, Chrono Cross
and Guilty Gear x2.
Atari: River Raid, Joust, Combat, Bowling, Air/Sea Command, Missile Command, Pitfall, Jungle Hunt, Chopper Command, Outlaw, Slot Racer, Berserk, Pac-Man.
NES: Marble Madness, Tecmo Super Bowl, Rad Racer, Castlevania I, Double Dragon I/II, Skate r Die, Commando/Bionic Commando, RBI Baseball, Caveman Games, Super Spike Volleyball, Zelda I, Mario 1 and 3 (2 was too drug-inspired), Battletoads, Summerslam 94, definitely Dragon Warrior I, the Olympics game with the big pad (damn good exercise), so many others, can't remember name of half of em.
SNES: Super Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 and 3, Ogre Battle, Metal Marines, Earth Defense Force, Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball, Rise of the Phoenix, ROTK IV, Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, Super Goal! 2, Breath of Fire 2, Earthbound, F-Zero, Madden 92, so many others....
Genesis: Road Rash 1-3, General Chaos, Kid Chameleon, Pigskin Football, Sonic 1-2.
N64: James Bond: Goldeneye (best fps ever), Waverace 64, F-Zero 64, Wrestlemania 2000.
Sega CD: Ground Zero, Texas (cheesy as hell but hilarious), Night Trap (banned), Batman Returns.
Ps2/X-box: NBA Street 2, Madden 2005, Gran Turismo 3.
Computer: Civilization 3, Rainbow Six 2: Rogue Spear, Shogun: Total War, Armored Fist 2, Age of Empires 2/Conquerors, original 1988 Harpoon, Leisure Suit Larry 1, Epyx World Games, Mean 18 Golf, Test Drive 1, Zork I, Trinity, Cyclops, definitely F/A 18 Interceptor, Indoor Games.

Rome: Total War.
Watching Roman cities burn under the grand banner of Carthage is pure fun. I can almost smell the flesh as the Roman legions fled as a swarm of fire arrows and flaming storms cooked 95% of them.
And when i took Rome itself, i massacred the populace(talk about ironic, eh?)
Im expecting World of Warcraft to topple it though (if it ever gets here through the satan storms that delayed it!)

After many years of technical advances, I will have to stick with the oldschool. My favorite Game of all time has got to be SKI FREE for win 93. One of the reasons is that there are tones of easter eegs, such as rocks that when you hit they turn into mushrooms (there are three). also, the games of yester year are simple and easily to find glitches (such as if you jump as fast as you can, the abomadable snow man cant catch you, and since the mp loops you can have 4-5 of them chacing you...) Ya, all great things...

SNES Starfox was wicked fun too, though I've recently revisited some of these gems through the miracle of emulation (and let me tell you, some of the shine is gone). Goldeneye seemed so cool five years ago. Now it's like "My polygon shoots your polygon, a-ha!" "My polygon slaps your polygon, chop sockey!" "Crapzors! Golden gun!"
