What's next, powered armor, mecha, etc?

Does anybody think that could be cool as hell, and just a little frightening, too?

Modular robotic bodies. Our brains will be removed at birth and grafted to a robotic body with limbs that can be changed out based on the person's needs. If you are a welder, in the morning you replace one of your hands with an arc welding device. If you are a soldier, your arm may have a .50 cal machine gun built into it. If you lose a robotic limb in an industrial accident, a new one can be snapped into place.

FIFTY calibre??? OMG! They best develop something a bit lighter that requires less ammunition which also weighs less! Heh!

The robotic bodies of the soldiers will be strong enough to carry a .50 cal. Also it will be the minimum necessary to pierce their armor. .50 cal with SLAP ammo will be the equivalent of 5.56mm armor piercing rounds today.

5.56 ap rounds hehe. all 556 will do is go into your shoulder and come out of your hip, tumbling its way through your body doenst really piece anything.

50cal on the other hand will simply blow your shoulder off your torso.
