What in your opinion is the world's worst nation in which to live?

Scotland, particularly this wretched town called Glasgow or something. Just kidding, really, I think it is Jordan, not only are they poor like Africa, but have terrorists, and have no natural recources, not even water.

Actually it's quite nice living in the USA. I voted for Saudi Arabia because as an atheist and a westerner I would be fair game for the islamofascist crazys that like to kill my kind.

I voted USA because it is run by far right extremists and is the most imperialist and aggressive towards other nations. In the USA money is more important than the welfare of society and unelected corporations have more power than the government. At least we can still get free healthcare in Europe.

That's true. The Americans live in a free nation even if nobody seem to realise it. It's because they never knew another country (a worst one...).

But Europaland is right too... the US goverment is far far far right (in my opinon). Here in Canada it's a little better I think.

LOL...I don't know how the USA can have more votes then Columbia but, so be it...it's the internet. Not the most intelligent people, obviously.

I voted for Columbia. I'm sure its nicer up on the coast being in the tropics, but living in a corupt nation basically run by drug cartels, with the risk of being kidnapped anywhere, anyplace, anytime.

So, the United States of America is the worst nation to live in on the face of the Earth, including the entire middle east, Gaza Strip, Iraq, and all of Africa....because are health care isn't 100% free. Got it.

The United States is the wealthiest nation in the world (by far) where its poorest are better off than the average citizen of North Korea, Sudan or Congo. Also, the US is repeatedly ranked among the most free nations in the world. Who would ever want to live there!?!?

M'kay, anybody picking USA over North Korea is either an idiot or a troll or politically blinded by their views which are too set to see anything outside the badly lit tunnel that is thier idiot ideology.
Honestly, the US is NOT THAT BAD. Even IF you accept the worst, most horrible things people say about us, it doesnt even REMOTLY compare to North Korea. North Korea IS an Orwellian state. The State teaches children that everybody outside of North Korea is evil. You have to get govornment permission to use the Internet under strict supervision. You WILL 'dissapear' for minor offesnses. Theyre in the middle of a recession AND a famine, and most likely THEY DONT KNOW IT. I say most likely because its damn hard to know what goes on inside North Koreas boarders because theyve been sealed forever.
Their human rights abuses are about a million times worse than the US, they are blatantly agressive towards their neighbors, and Im damn sure they spend a good deal more of their GDP on the military than we do.
Dear God, Ive gone off on a rant.
It just angers me that people are really dumb enough to think that the US is a worse place to live than North Korea.

 How the hell is USA the worst? Politics? Capitalism? The poor? Geez, I know homeless who live the shittest lives by choice in the USA and they don't complain. The poor in this country persevere and survive through whatever shit they go through. It's not like other countries where you could have a nice lunch and BAM! your dead. Or be at risk of having your kids or yourself kidnapped and put up for ransom. Sure all of this could happen in the USA, but it's not to as high a ratio as other countries. No matter how corrrupt and shitty you think the USA is, it isn't the worst.

The USA was winning both the worst, and best nation polls at the same time a couple minutes ago. That either proves some great confusion, or that the US simply has its ups and downs. I'll strive to beleive, and hope, for the latter. :)

I can understand why some people put down the US, I mean there are people who find the type of lifestyle enjoyed by the US repulsive and that of NKorea to be ideal. From the answers this would seem to be the case, I have difficulty understanding the mindset, but I have to acknowledge that it does exist. So for all you whiners, just understand that there are people out there who crave to be controlled by the government than free, and would much rather everyone be equal in poverty than accept a little inequality in the name greater wealth for all. I know it sounds funny, but there are people who actually cannot abide freedom.

AS the guy above you said, the US is winning both the Best and Worst polls, so Im guessing a bunch of people said 'OMG! I can say more bad stuff about the US!' and came in here, whereas they saw the 'best' poll and said 'Well, theres no real chance to be a real pessimist in there without seeming trolly, so I wont go.'
Anyway, even if your right, theyre wrong. So there :P

Oh, you mean you didn't create this poll to take a census of other people's opinions? What's that you say? You created this poll so you could reply to it yourself? You thought your political opinion might get more attention if you fronted it as a poll? Oh, okay. Now at least the failure to include certain other counties in the poll has been explained.

Very true. I mean people are brought up and tought in school that free nations are evil, etc, etc. I almost can't blame them, but, you can't really re-educate them at this point, either.

It isn't even necessarily that. Awhile back we had a nation here named Zeltec whose leader was a Christian fundamentalist who considered the U.S. hideously immoral and wanted to move to Iran (not quite sure why he chose an Islamic theocracy...maybe no Christian theocracies exist.) He was an American, if I remember correctly, and by all accounts should believe that the U.S. has the right idea. However, he believed that the government should rule over every aspect of a citizen's life and enforce every passage in the Bible as it was written. Zeltec was an aberration, I imagine, but it is hardly the case where a person considers the lifestyle in which they were raised to be the ideal lifestyle.

It is true that people indoctrinated with a specific lifestyle and only exposed to other lifestyles in a negative light are steadfastly dedicated to their own. This is why North Koreans don't overthrow Kim Jong Il, even if he is a royal bastard. This is why the Saudis don't tell the fundamentalists there to go fuck themselves. Communism thrived because people were refused access to any other way of life in a positive way. Fascism was the same way.

Most people, when exposed to both liberal democracy and authoritarian ideology, tend to prefer democracy. Case in point, ask two Cubans the same question: what do you think of Fidel Castro? Ask the first Cuban, who's never left the island and knows only the Castro regime, and he will tell you it's wonderful and El Presidente is a marvelous leader. Ask the second Cuban, who defected to the U.S., and he will tell you that Castro is a miserable leader and needs to be eradicated. However, in most liberal societies, people are exposed to authoritarian history and the possibility arises that they will begin to believe that an authoritarian society is better. It may be that they value some aspects of an authoritarian government (quick decisions, no arguments, swift punishment for crimes) the same way that many people value aspects of a liberal government (extensive debate, better human rights record, a government that more reflects the citizenry.)

I'm surprised at the omission of Sierra Leone... surely any third-world country where the average life expectancy is roughly 35 and children are forced to join the army* deserves a mention... somehow I doubt that they get free healthcare...
