Just paid 6 months rent (long complicateds story I'm not retelling) that came to roughly US $3000. That's the largest amount of cold hard cash I've ever handed over in a lump sum.
What's the largest amount of cash you've ever payed for something?
(Checks, credit cards, and the like don't count.)

Just over $4,000 when I paid cash for a new 1969 Boss 302 Mustang after I got back from Vietnam. God, I loved that car! :)

I once sold a 2.4 carat diamond for $2700 and received my payment in coin. Most of it was in US Bicentennial quarters, I think eight thousand of them. It took a handtruck to carry our payment to the car, and the bank never forgave us for that deposit.

The fact that said £1 million is all going to be in Northern Bank notes may arouse a touch of suspicion, no?

£270 for a second hand Yamaha AN200 (a desktop synth, not a bike). I don't think I'd go any higher than that; a stolen Switch card is a lot less use to the thief than stolen cash.

That's the worst thing I've ever heard. There's a bar i went to in Barcelona where a double voka and lemonade cost €16, which is about a tenner.
And it cost €8 to get in...
