I never even thought anyone believed in that anymore...except for perhaps a handful of highly orthodox people. I mean, I go to a catholic school, have gone to a catholic school my whole life, and I can not think of a single person who believes in it. All my religion teachers themselves (some of whom were pretty religious) have said that its a story, and that it didn't actually happen, but that God helped guide evolution.
Of course, that's up north in good ol' Canada...and so far all the creationism stuff I'm hearing about is seemingly from the states (I'm not saying others elsewhere don't believe in it)...I mean, we joke about Americans being kinda dumb...but, really, how can you truly believe in that?

I don't, you'll have to talk to a Creationist.
I actually tend to laugh at them, but they hold firm in the face of all reason that the world was created in six days, 5000 years ago.

Well, it is hard to fathom how anyone can be so disinterested in both science and their own faith as to believe in Creationism as a valid science or faith.

Do not generalize there.. I live in on the East Coast.. i never even knew the specifics of creationism till i came into this forum.. if people actually belive what they express to be "facts" here in support of creationism I will make it my goal in life to reform education on a whole in this country!!
only in the SOUTH will u find evidence of the travesties in our education system.. T_T and such literal interpretations of the bible..
one thing i dont get.. people read the bible litterally.. but then in creationism try to argue man and dinasore existed together (even when science has determined they havn't) even though the bible never mentions dinasores.. (so they read this section liberally.. but when the world was created in 7 days.. of course that means 24 hours a day right ? ) ... isn't that rather convient ... and at the same time they demand clear direct evidence for evolutionary theory when they have none for their own "theory"

How can people believe in UFO aliens?
how can people believe in any kind of idiotic nonsense?
People are oftentimes unreasonable idiots!

Point taken Granada, I was hoping to here from a creationist explaining his viewpoint though. In regards to UFOs (I don't necessarily believe that the many UFO sightings are all real), but, given the sheer size of space, it is quite possible that something similar to us happened a while back, and there more ahead in space exploration than us, but thats a totally different subject.

In the beginning there was the void. And the void was called Ginnungagap. What does Ginnungagap mean? Along with the void existed Niflheim the land of fog and ice in the north and Muspelheim the land of fire in the south.
In Niflheim was a spring called Hvergelmir from which the Elivagar (eleven rivers - Svol, Gunnthra, Fiorm, Fimbulthul, Slidr, Hrid, Sylg, Ylg, Vid, Leiptr, and Gioll) flowed. The Elivargar froze layer upon layer until it filled in the northerly portion of the gap. Concurrently the southern portion was being filled by sparks and molten material from Muspelheim.
The mix of fire and ice caused part of the Elivagar to melt forming the figures Ymir the primeval giant and the cow Audhumla. The cow's milk was Ymir's food. While Ymir slept his under arm sweat begat two frost giants, one male one female, while his two legs begat another male.
While Ymir was busy procreating Audhumla was busy eating. Her nourishment came from licking the salty ice. Her incessant licking formed the god Buri. He had a son named Bor who was the father of Odin, Vili, and Ve.
For some reason the sons of Bor decided to kill poor Ymir. His blood caused a flood which killed all of the frost giants except for two, Bergelmir and his wife, who escaped the deluge in their boat.
Odin, Vili, and Ve put Ymir's corpse into the middle of ginnungagap and created the earth and sky from it. They also created the stars, sun, and moon from sparks coming out of Muspelheim.
Finally, the brothers happened upon two logs lying on the beach and created the first two humans Ask [Ash] and Embla [vine?] from them.
what more do you need to know about how we came to be?

No, actually in much of Red America you will. I wish it was restricted to the south, but it applies to pretty much all landlocked states to some extent.
