I just got a copy of John Stewart's "America" this weekend and I gotta tell ya, I've nearly puked from laughing so much and so hard. I want this book to replace all high school civics textbooks in the US.

If you don't have this book, get it. If you can't afford it, borrow it from the library. You must read this book. I am going to write my congressman and ask that it be made illegal to not read this book.

What's it about? (Be more specific than just "It's about America!")

I especially liked the timeline in the first chapter with it stating

1775: America invents democracy

Jon Stewart rocks!!! it no wonder that the daily show is where more americans get their news than any other nationality.

Heh ... well ... it's about American politics, really. It's basically a really funny civics textbook.

Example:

Chapter 4
Congress: Quagmire of Freedom
If the President is the head of the American body politic, Congress is its gastrointestinal tract. Its vast and convoluted inner workings may be mysterious and unpleasant, but in the end they excrete a great deal of material whose successful passage is crucial to our nation's survival.

(later in the same chapter)

In many ways, lobbyists are the cheerleaders of Capitol Hill -- sad, soulless, clandestine, unfuckable cheerleaders.
