Should Education be stripped from state control

I say yes.. having no standards running across each state it is clear some children receive better educations then others, and states have proven that they are rarely able to fund their own education programs efficently.. why shouldn't education.. a building block of our society then be given to federal control.. Federal funds are already being funneld to states for education programs, but no standards exist ...
on a side note.. someone recently posted this site www.creationist.org to support the creationist theory.. i implore those of you who are creationist to tell me this is not the basis of the theory.. as a devote catholic myself i can't belive this interpreation is being widly held and propogated in education systems.

No. Leave it with the states.
The feds couldn't do much better. In fact, it would be worst as the Republicans are now the Christian party so education would really go down.
Creationism belongs in the comparative Relgions class.
The site posted is pretty wanky on the arguements. There are better.....

Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Of course creationism is for retards. But retardism is no reason to violate the Constitution of the United States.

If the states have problems funding schools, legalize gambling, or have a lottery and use all gambling procedes to fund schools. I believe some states do this already, and have good results.

We do that in Kansas. It works out well enough.

If you fully believe in evolution, you must be retarded as it is a theory, just like creationism. Everyone is retarded then who believes in any theory.

Unfortunately there hasn't been a Supreme Court willing to enforce this for a while it seems :(
I can't believe this is up for debate. Leave it up to the states.
Or better yet, leave it up to the parents and offer vouchers.

So... how is the education system in Kansas?
I mean, seeing as how it's in the Midwest, a Bush state, and... well...

That was over-turned a few weeks later. If I remember correctly, Kansas was towards the top out of all the states (at least the top 20).

That's right, let's leave it to all of the parents. The imbeciles who don't know how to think, vote, or live.
Fine! See what I care. You're only helping make more proletariat slaves to serve me in my age.

Well, that was a dumb thing that the Board of Education did. That is what happens when parents pressure school board officals. It pissed a lot of people off here.

Exactly! Allow these parents who want to teach creationism and the like send their little angels to schools with their preferred curriculums in lieu of real studies.
I wouldn't be worried about these slackjawed wunderkinds undercutting me in tomorrows market.
Enough bickering, leave the smartass comments to me, or those who know how to cut deep and keep walking.
Creationism is NOT a theory. It is not a set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena. It has not been repeatedly tested or widely accepted as a model to make predictions about natural phenomena. It has no standing as an arguement, religiously, or scientifically, and is so completely random and out there that it makes modern art look like a well devised masterpiece.

Of course, gravity is just a theory too, however most of us believe in it enough not to jump off of tall buildings just to test it for ourseves....
