If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

If he were really bad I'd take the gun and shoot him myself.

But really, I don't think so...

No, for taking hostage is to do with corporeal imprisonment, and none of these personalities has an individual body ;)

If there were more suicidal maniacs in the world, there would be fewer suicidal maniacs in the world.

Is that anything like negative feedback in the aplitude circuit? Or perhaps like the infamous "Foo Bird" which flies in smaller and smaller circles until it eventually disappears up its own asshole? :)

I guess it depends on whether they're coconspirators, or unwilling victims.

Yes, but don't worry they'll send in the SAS to kill the hostage takers and free the hostages!

I would think the poor soul, if talked down or wrestled to the ground by the authorities, would have a nice, long stay in a mental hospital thereafter.

No, two personalities cannot be in control at the same time. It would be one personality threatening suicide.

Anyway, MPD is mostly a fictitious disease invented by psychologists who have to diagnose something in order to collect on insurance payments.
