This question was posed to my English class for debate. I personally believe it is, which is why I killed everyone else in the debate.

Hahahahah....funny. Very maddox-like.

War is sometimes necessary, as it sometimes cannot be avoided. Take 9/11, for example. We were attacked on our soil, which we will not take lying down. So, Bush says "Let's whoop some ass", which he did, and nearly everyone in the country backed him. The Iraq war, although it has some justifacations, wasn't necessary, at least at that moment. Honestly, I say we should've waited until more countries backed us up, and given Iraq a chance to respond. I mean several U.N. resolutions failed, and war seemed un-avoidable. But was it necessary? Not necessarily :p

I'm talking about war in general. I figured that I could get a better debate here than in a class full of stupid naive high schoolers.

I knew something was wrong when they argued that war is stupid and childish. You don't win anything by fighting in a war.

Don't know if it's always neccesary, but it does seem to be unavoidable after a certain point. Additionally, war does help keep the population in check, so yeah - neccesary on the grand scheme level of things.

That and humanity does seem to be an awfully vicious lot.
