What should I change my name to?

Colodia
19-12-2004, 07:26
I want to change my first and last name. My first because American society is too stupid to pronounce it right (I just tell people to call me Kevin instead, makes life soooo much easier!) and my last because I'm too different from my family.

I've got 4 years before I can do that (my parents probably wouldn't allow it). So what names do you guys think I should have? One that's good and makes a good impression to people.

I'm not at liberty to say it.

Not because I'm embarassed or anything. But because it's super rare in America, and I'm just paranoid.

how about changing the spelling of your first name so people will pronounce it correctly?

im thinking thatt you should keep your last name no matter how unusual. once you are world dictator, everyone will know how to spell it and 10% of the worlds population will be naming their kids after you.

or you can do what the people passing through ellis island were sometimes forced to do, simplify your last name so it still sounds "ethnically correct". dont be changing a long unusual name to SMITH, just make it shorter but still sounding like it is whatever ethinicity you have.

I agree with the guys who figure that you ought to just monkey with the spelling till it can be easily slipped off the average American tongue. My name, Daniel, is irritatingly common and as I go by Dan a small collection of one syllable words sound like it when I am not really paying attention.

You ought to change it to something cool like Basil, or Balthazar, perhaps Norton after the only emperor the United States has ever had. If you go be Kevin though, keep it.

Last name make it unusual but pronounceable. An uncommon last name is always useful in distinguishing yourself from others.
