In this thread type any new movie that you rented or saw in the theater this year and give it a rating. (A rating must be 0-10, a 10 being the best.) And give a brief reason for your rating.

The Day After Tomorrow 6/10: Good movie, but pretty unrealistic.

I, Robot 7.5/10: A cool science fiction movie, with plenty of action.

Spiderman 2 8/10: Really good, even better than the first movie.

Princess Diaries-Royal Engagement 4/10: Not as good as the first one, very long movie to sit through.

The Incredibles 8/10: Very cute movie, and original ideas.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 7/10: Much, much different from the first two movies, almost to the point the movie was weird. I liked it better the second time I saw it (when we rented it).

Share any of your ratings. :)

I, Robot-9.5/10, a brilliant film.
Wimbledon-7/10, nothing special.

Alien vs. Predator: 0. Horrible.
Shaun of the Dead: 8. Funny, especially for me.
Alexander: 7. Pretty good, only two battles and the second one was horribly inaccurate. Too much concentration on the Hephaestion-Alexander relationship.
Collateral: 6,7. Pretty good action.
I, Robot: 6. Okay. Some good action.

Thats all I can remember atm.

Alien vs Predator: 6/7. Okay, but not dark and scary.
I, Robot: 7. Took ages to get off the ground, but good.

The Phantom of the Opera - 10/10: absolutely fantastic film! one of the best i've ever seen!

I've heard of that, and I've seen a couple commercials for it, but it isn't even playing in my town.

Ocean's Twelve: 10/10 - saw it yesterday and felt like reading a poem. Soderberg really took chanses for a 100% entertain-focused film

Hero - 10/10... but, maybe that's just me.... beautiful film, incredible direction, great acting... not going to be the big blockbuster of the year, though... because it's a Chinese film...

The Incredibles--9.5/10 Absolutely brilliant film. If there's a better movie company than Pixar right now, I don't know who it is.

The Day After Tomorrow 3/10 A piece of crap. An utterly contemptible piece of crap. Any movie that argues for burning books for warmth when there's an entire library of wooden furniture to burn...well, I know there's supposed to be something called "suspension of disbelief," but that's just retarded.

I, Robot: 2/10 - Piece of shit. Insult to Isaac Asimov. Will Smith should be castrated and thrown off a cliff.

Without A Paddle: 4/10 - Not funny, predictable and plain stupid.

The Punisher: 3/10 - Fuck, never again.

Spiderman 2: 7.5/10 - Good but the first one was much better. Too much cheesy crap in this movie.

Man On Fire: 5/10 - Cool revenge type film but it was basically a shoot-em-up style movie a la Steven Seagal.

Around the World In 80 Days: 8/10 Against the odds, it was actually quite a good film.

Passion of the Christ - 10/10 - for Christians, it was an eye-opener. After being taught the "lite" version of the crucifixion, it made us understand the profound sacrifice that was made for us.

Ocean's 12-10/10. Much different from the first, but still funny, unpredictable, and just downright cool. This was the only movie where I ever liked Julia Roberts.

The Day After Tomorrow: 8/10:

Great movie... Good look at the possible effects of global warming with realistic handling of it. The science behind the film is perfectly fine (although some do dispute it with alternative and equally possible models). The burning book thing is sort of strange considering htey're in a library full of furniture, but it's not like they had a lot of stuff to break the furniture up with so hey...

I Robot: 4/10

It's nice to see Asimov robots on screen but this is completely out of anything Asimov ever wrote and departs widely from the original characters. It also did take forever to get going. Anyway, it's just to untrue to Asmiov's real work for me.

Harry Potter 3: 6/10

I liked the first two better. The feel of this one wasn't right. Although the characters do look better.

Has anyone bothered to see A Series of Unfortunate Events (probably not, it's more of a kid's movie)? I've read 11 of the books in the series and I am curious as to whether or not that movie is ANY good.

how about a prediction? The Life Aquatic: 9.4 out of 10.

And The Incredibles was very possibly THE best movie this year. No pretension, no dull stuff. A movie worth seeing and then some.

I, Robot 4/10 - didn't follow Asimov at all. Trust Hollywood to fuck up
Ocean's 12: 7.5/10 -Pretty good. Not as good as 11 but pretty good
HP3, Prisoner of Azkaban: 8/10 - Harry Potter, yes. Change in scenery, no.
Day After Tomorrow: 8/10 - good material. Too much hype for product
The Incredibles: 8.5/10 - good laughter flick, good animation, funny characters
National Treasure: 7/10 - Not too bad for $6.50 but not something I want to see numerous times.
