There's a good lesson here: Always get permission to use someone's name and it might even be nice to pay them.

Bullshit, he should of tried to use "biting social commentary" instead and he might have gotten away with it.

All I can say is... AAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!!

The egotistical asshole finally got his comeuppance.

And it wasn't the first time he ripped off someone for his own comics either. Neil Gaiman successfully sued him for stealing bits from The Sandman if I recall correctly. Not to mention there was a story I heard that Image Comics was dropped from the Indie Heroclix lineup because McFarlane wanted Spawn to be the most broken and expensive (cash wise) figure in the whole game.

Oh yeah, and do any RPG players remember an old Palladium game called Nightbane? Which used to be called Nightspawn until Asshole threatened litigation?

Take that, Bitch.

NOoOoOoOoOo! I love Spawn!

I'm a comic book poser and I don't care! I really do like Spawn and this sucks more than all the itmes Stan Lee's gotten sued.

MacFarlane shouldn't have used the name, but the judgement was a little over the top, to say the least. :gundge:

$15 million for what? Please. It wasn't as if I had a high opinion of Mr. Twist before the Spawn character came out...

Meh, I've got my Spawn DVDs, I'm happy.

What about all those MacFarlane action figures? Will those still be churning out? What will we do without those sports figures, KISS, and Elvis toys? :( ;)

I like Spawn, but I think this is proof that all things come to those who wait. I'm glad he's being taken down a notch.

Do people really dislike MacFarlane that much?

He wasn't taken down a *notch*; he was taken to the bottom of the heap!

I still think the award was too extreme. :sniper:

There aren't enough comic book companies out there as it is. Lot of the good ones are gone. Oh well... :headbang:

I wouldn't sweat it. Marvel was in bankruptcy about 15 years ago and came out of it just fine. What it looks like MacFarlane has done is bought some time--by declaring bankruptcy, I belive he can put off some of his creditors and continue to operate his business. He's not closing down anytime soon.

I had the unfortunate experience of listening to him talk at a convention (I wasn't going to pay $25 for his autograph). Arrogant ass is too nice for him.

That whole issue w/ Palladium books and Nightspawn/bane didn't help my opinion any.

Read 'America's Best Comics' if you haven't already. They are.

Fine, so he's an arrogant ass. Big woop. I still like him.

Yeah, sorry - I'm siding with those calling him an arrogant ass. He's just as arrogant an ass as Chris Landreth, director of the animated 'Bingo' and 'The Ryan Project'.

I'm not losing any sleep over McFarlane's baseball collection...and neither is he. So don't worry...

I do, I do. They are good. But it diesn't mean there isn't room for a few more... :)
