Is space the final frontier? Or is it the future battlefield? Or is it neither/something else? What do you think?

If Missile Defense goes as planned, it's a future battlefield.

Space is the final frontier and these are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.

It's sure as hell not the "Final Frontier". There are plenty of frontiers left to us on our own planet. Take warmongers for instance. We regard the word "frontier" too physically.

It's both the final frontier as well as the future battlefields.

Did you know that there are probably hundreds of species of plants, animals, etc that we know about on Earth? How about the fact that it would take I think it was like 5 years or something to map out the ocean? There is so much on Earth with how genes work and the works that space isn't even a small part. Besides, why go out and corrupt space too since we've already corrupted the Earth. Shouldn't we actually look at solving our problems here first?

Oh ya, I'm not really that big of an environmentalist.

Yeah, seriously, most of the deep sea has never been explored. There are still many undiscovered species hiding deep in rainforests. We're discovering new things every day with the human genome. Space is a frontier, but not the final one.

A battlefield I can see, but the "final frontier"? Seems somewhat off if you ask me. As it's been said before, there is so much here on Earth that we have yet to learn or fully understand.

Why, yes actually. In fact, the number of species in Linnaean taxonomy is at least in the hundreds of thousands. I don't know the exact statistics. Hundreds probably doesn't come near to the number of undiscovered species. The eighth continent is the rainforest canopy. It is estimated that we may not know even half of existing insect species because some are where we haven't gone or are just really good at hiding. Not to mention that microorganisms evolve so quickly that they make new species within a human generation. Though, I have to admit, one day when we're razing the African rainforests to the grounds, we're going to find a pandemic Ebola Zaïre, so it really won't much matter.

it's both the final frontier and the future battlefield.

We're gonna go there, and whereever humanity goes, there will be a battlefield.

There'ill always be the curious who thirst knowledge and, wisdom so it's a frontier though not the final one, there is no final, te possibilities are infinite but sadly there'll also always be warmongers who will be willing to destroy anything over trivial things so yes, it will be a battle field. All that's a long way off though, as people in the 50s, 60s and, 80s thought there would be space hotels by now and, we'd all be zipping around in flying cars. That hasn't happened yet and, is probably a long time coming as are our current futuristic fantasies.
