Why won't Civ 3 work for me?!

32 MB RAM
400 MB free HD space
4X CD-ROM
DirectX 8.0a or better
Video card: capable of 1024 x 768 x 16-bit color
Sound card: DirectX 8.0a compatible


I have...
Celeron 1.70 GHz
224 MB RAM
10 gigabytes of Space...
I'm sure i at least got 4X... How do i check?
DirectX 9.0c
dunno how do i check... but i probably have that
Sound card doesnt work at the moment, but i had that.


My computer doesnt want to run the game... it just gives a black screen and freezes. Well sometimes it might show me the intro... but otherwise i can't the play the game.

What's wrong?

Well go to either www.nvidia.com or www.ati.com and download the most recent drivers for your graphics card.
Alternatively, it could be the switching from whatever your current resolution is to the 1024x768 that it needs. Seeing as Windows is a load of crap, it doesn't always cope with this. Try setting your resolution to 1024x768 before you launch.

Ok, really, he loves you. Civ 3? For such an addicting game, it's really boring. I'm seriously warning you here-you're going to hate it every time you play it, but you're not gonna stop playing it :p
