I think the game just wouldn't work...

What game are you trying to run?

The Sims 2. So it will matter if its only 8 Ram differnce?

The game will probably run very slowly.... and might freeze.

That's my guess.

248 is probably just the margin of error for your manufacturer. Sometimes they cheat and say 256,000kb = 256mb. 256mb will run it very slowly anyway, I recommend you upgrade it to 512mb for it to run smoothly.

I have no idea if it would "crash" your computer, however it would probably make it run extremely SLOW and it will keep freezing up, which will get on your nerves when you are trying to play your game. You can buy RAM for your PC at a very resonable price at, www.crucial.com. If you are unsure what kind of RAM you need, it will take you through a step by step process to help figure this out. Adding RAM is one of the cheapest ways to upgrade your computer. I highly recommend it.

more likely that 8 ram is shared with your onboard video card

the sims 2 is not going to run well on your machine
