Actually, it IS Washington's eye. The Pyramid represents the Union. If you look closely, you'll note that the capstone does not sit atop the pyramid, it floats. This is to represent the fact that the nation is never completely built, but is a work in progress. 1776 is written in Roman numerals at the base.

I don't know much about history, but if I learned anything from Nicholas Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer, it's that Masonic conspiracy bullshit is what America is all about!
The only good thing about that movie was the Hitchhiker's Guide trailer that was shown during the previews.

They didn't show that trailer at my local theater, so I have nothing redeeming to say. Except that now I have something to contribute to the Bruckheimer thread (it's got something about, uhm, 'horrible movies' in the title).
