Christians, why don't you follow your own teachings?

So why do christians tell so many lies?

There are still many christians who disagree with the Bush Administration, for instance about all European christians (Vatican City excluded), about 50% of the American christians as well, etc...

BTW, isn't lying a sin?

Because the Bible says so.
Honestly, there really is no difference between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists. Both groups pick and choose certain passages and then warp and twist them to propel whatever course of action they see will fit their devious agendas.
Sick and wrong.

Because bush is a fuckwad. He's a freakin' obbsessor over his GOD DAMNED religion, which is irritating because NOT EVERYONE IN AMERICA IS CHRISTIAN, and he's too much of an idoit to know where to stop.

Take me for example. I'm not catholic. I'm a Wiccan. I've never read the fucking bible. And yet now he's trying to run the nation by it?

Mr. G dubs, you have been FIRE for BEING the WEAKEST LINK I have [b]EVER SCENE

I'd like to see a source for that. It's been largely asserted that evangelical Christians won Bush's re-election. Because their preachers told them that a vote for Bush is a vote for Jesus, or some such nonsence. I'm sure you'd probably like to see a source for that as well, but I don't have one. (I'll put it on my 'to-do' list. It's #487)

:D

Lying a sin? I guess it all depends on your interpretaion of "bearing false witness." I'm not even a laywer and I could probably argue my way out of that foxhole. If I wanted to. Or cared.

There are many different forms of christianty, and millions of individuals who practice there faith in their own way. It is a fallacy to look at one sect of christianity and tar the entire religeon with a single brush.

Just like Islam is a religeon of peace tainted by the actions of the few who wish to use it for their own nefarious means, christianity is susceptible to the same corruption.

For the same reason other people tell lies, to gain an advantage/to pass blame/to trick others/etc.

I'm totally against the war in iraq but as a super power the USA can not stand idle while other countries are in turmoil.

I'm not saying to police the world but help regulate it and right now the US has no help.

Yes, I see the hypocrisy of calling for proof and then making an assertion for which I have no proof. I'm sorry. It's late. I'm tired. I should really go to bed .. or get up for the day. In any case, don't bother chastising me. I'll flog myself and try to do better next time, okay?

The Vatican does disagree with the Bush Administration on a lot of things, including the Iraq War. The catholic vote in the US does not follow any set party. Its pretty much split down the middle no matter where you go. And remember KKK hates catholics as well as everyone who isnt southern white protestant.

Well, Dubya is not my idea of a Christian, at least when it comes to policy (see my rant at http://arkanabar.tripod.com/grants.html for a dose). I won't speak on his personal life. And certainly his two invasions (Iraq and Afghanistan) don't fit Justinian's definition of a just war. But you may have a misconception of what Jesus was teaching with "Turn the other cheek."

The full verse is "When someone strikes your right cheek, turn the other one also." He then goes on to say, "If someone sues you for your cloak, give him your shirt also. And if someone makes you walk a mile with him, walk two miles."

These are all cases of personal insult. For example, if you hit somebody on their right cheek, and you're right handed (as most are), it's a backhanded slap -- an insult. Now, at the time, Israel was a subject state of Rome. And while everyone admires Roman law, in practice, a Roman citizen could take a Roman subject to court and essentially demand whatever he wanted, and the court would automatically back him up. So you might read that, "If somebody uses the law to steal your coat, give him your shirt too." And of course, citizens could demand unpaid labor from subjects at any time. So He was referring to something rather common, but also very demeaning, the practice of Roman citizens to press random Jewish passers-by into carrying his burdens for a mile or so.

The actual point? When a Christian is insulted, he's supposed to be extra nice to the person who does it.

And while I am Catholic, Dubya ... ain't. No president has been, except for JFK.

As a Christian I feel like I must apologise for our hypocrisy, and I must say that I am as guilty as they come. I am a sinner. But the point of Christianity is that because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection God has given humanity a free gift of grace and forgiveness if we accept it and trust in God. Christians do not believe that they can earn God's salvation, because we all fall short of God's standards. For me, because I have accepted God's grace it will transform me into the person God wants me to be. Of course I will always mess up but because of God's grace I can go before God and he will forgive me, and I will strive to become a better person, not through I can do, but because of what God can do.
May the Lord Bless you and keep you

Let's face it, if Christians were to follow the Bible's teachings there would be public floggings and the reguler stoning to death of homosexuals and other such garbage. Apparantly if a man rapes a virgin, he has to marry her. Wouldn't that be an odd world, ruled by Christian teaching?
Jeff-O-Matica

Christians, why don't you follow your own teachings? This is a funny question for a few reasons.

First, we follow the lessons given to us by Jesus Christ. He came to earth to tell us that God understands that none of us is perfect. We sin on occasion. The planfor a Christian, however, is to learn what God wants. Then, on those occasions when we fail to act as He wants, we ask for His forgiveness in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. Then, we must try to sin no more.

As for the current president of the United States, he says that he is a Christian. My great hope and prayer is that he understands that he has sinned by starting a war. Jesus did not say for any person to start a war for any reason. Jesus said to love our enemies.

Oh well, let's all pray for George Bush to understand that God wants all people to love one another.
