COPENHAGEN (AFP) - Denmark's national symbol, the Little Mermaid sculpture perched on a rock at a Copenhagen pier, was draped in a burka and a sash reading "Turkey in the EU?" overnight, Copenhagen media reported.

I must say I only partly agree with the authors of this prank: I hope I'll live to see Turkey member of the EU. But I dislike Islam as a murderous intolerant ideology, and I find the joke hilarious.

Strange... I thought Turkey didn't allow burkas... Turkey is also one of the few countries in the world that banned headscarfs from public buildings. Turkey doesn't tolerate extremism or fundamentalism at all, so I don't get the joke... The idiots who are responsible for this better do some research before they make another statement in the future...

Turkey is a secular country so it would seem this little prank relies on ignorance. Trying to strike fear into the hearts of EU members because Turkey has a large Islamic population is nothing but propaganda fueled by hate.
