I'll let this hang on the forum for a few minutes. If no one responds, so be it. I have a theory, a good one too. I just want to see what others think before I continue...

Yes, I read it the first post without looking at who started it. Luckily, I noticed and didn't make an ass of myself.

Um, biggest problem - peopl hijacking other people's threads.

Seriously, though, HIV in combination with children's and women's rights.

OMG that is f'ing brilliant. Should I do that now?

I could make it all serious like, so they couldn't techincally lock it.

Telling someone they can't do something, and then putting up with their shi* about how they are going to do it anyway or it's a intrusion of their rights, even though the thing they are doing is wrong.

Oh alright. I was getting ready to abandon this whole idea, but here's my take:
Overpopulation.
See, you can take anything that's wrong in the world and trace it back to the fact that there are too many people on the planet. It's kind of like "six degrees of Kevin Bacon (separation)", only different. If you have any trouble with this theory, TG me and I might get back to you in a week or so. I'm out.

World's Worst Problem?
People not understanding Love.

Sure, Love is powerful, BUT WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MEAN IF YOU CANT GET IT GOING. What that means is, let LOVE come to you. Trying to find IT is just as stupid as trying to find something inside Mr. Dubs mas paquenia cabaza. Pardon mis espanol ^.^;'. Mucho gusta practica la lengua...adiemas...

Anywho. If people could only understand this, then people would become more baltantly aware of the world's problem-
PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND IT'S A PARADOX.

The biggest problem in the world is the belief that there are any problems. These are all blessings, every one of them. For instance, hatred is a blessing, because it give us a chance to overcome it with love. Greed, or the love of money, is a blessing because those people who fall victim to that source of evil give us a chance to help them save their souls.

I'm going to cast my vote with religion as the biggest problem. I'm not pointing fingers at any faith in particular, because they've all got problems.

Islam has some serious rights issues. Anti-democratic, anti-woman, anti-free speech. It's bad news all around.

Various Christian sects have some very unhealthy outlooks on contraception (both as a population issue and as an issue regarding the spread of HIV). "Abstinence-only" just don't cut it. Not to mention the anti-scientific bend of many sects.

Plus, these two go together like gas and hot. Not good.

Overpopulation is the mother of almost all the planet's problems. It took all of human history up until two centuries ago to break the one billion mark and since then we have exceeded six billion, with the projected leveling off point 9-10 billion by the end of the century.

Pollution, loss of ecosystems, extinction, conflicts over resources, pandemic spread of disease, and the list goes on and on, are all the result of overpopulation.

On a less grandiose scale I think a problem of the modern age was summed up best by T.S. Eliot; “We know too much and are convinced of too little....” In an age of almost unlimited access to knowledge and information we have developed a culture that is no longer serious about much of anything, including art, literature, or culture in general. If it isn't entertainment, then it isn't worth knowing.

Never have so many had access to so much and have known so little about what to do with it.

Overpopulation is a vastly over exagerated problem. There is still plenty of room on the planet. Vast ammounts are still uninhabited, or at least inhabited by very small numbers.

It isn't a matter of squeezing everyone in. Certainly there is room. But, the land we need to expand means less land for rain forests, animal habitats, wetlands to purify water, etc.

The problem with overpopulation is that all these people create waste, use water, consume resources, and demand jobs. As the rest of the world strives to create American-style consumer economies the pressures on the planet, its ecosystems, and our population become even greater.

It has been my experience that over population is greatly under-rated as a problem. When was the last time it was brought up in a political debate? Do any Western politicians even discuss it as an issue?
