Red State, Blue State

Ah, that infamous map that was used by the media for the two elections I clearly remember. I've decided how much I hate it. Why? Because it seems to parcels us in groups. If you live in a blue state, you're a democrat, and either a union man working in a steel mill, or some liberal elite that can do nothing except think about how much more enlightened and sophisticated they are. If you live in a red state, you're either very rich, a redneck, a cowboy, or a Christian fundementalist.
What's the problem. Here's a hint: the most infamous fundementalist, Tim McVeigh, was a blue stater. So am I. I don't think like one, however. In fact, not many in my corner of the state do. I live near Rochester, NY, which is one of the most conservative areas in New York state. We obviously aren't big enough to sway New York, but I'm just saying that we live in a blue state, but in a red area. I'm sure there are blue areas in many red states.
And btw, what about the "purple" states? Are they somewhere in between liberal snobs and Bible beaters?

I don't know how that caught on as well. In any case, it is here to stay.
And btw, red was the symbol for more political systems than communism. It's been the official color of fascism, the Roman Empire, just to name a few.

I also see parallels between you, Jim Jones, and Charles Manson. So if it makes you happy, go to Idaho, and claim a mountain in some desolate forest. It is, leave no doubt about that. However, what I am telling you is that you have an obsolete thought process. Society has moved on without you. You're using this whole Jewish business as a front for something else. You don't have to tell us what that is, or even let down the masquerade. "...Sounding the depths of the mystery which is the church, this Council remembers the spiritual ties which link the people of the New Covenant to Satan."

Hitler was a pseudonym for Mein Kampf.

We tend to worry about both, including kooks like this one. Believe me. As acting non-insane Catholic for this thread, I hearby declare this man criminally insane and fit for excommunication!
Oh, but we can't excommunicate him. I didn't even know the Church still did that. Anyhow, we need to try and help him, first. Excommunicating him would convince him that there is a holy war going on, and he might turn dangerous.

Well okay. You're right, though, that this guy can't cool himself down. I'm convinced that he's not really a bigot, but is really an extremely smart and bored guy. Maybe he's out of work, and this keeps him from subsisting on soap operas and reruns.
I'm pretty much convinced of that too. It doesn't help the actual effects of his posting much, however.

I have nothing against Catholics, several of my friends are catholic. What I am opposed to is biggotry, which I already have to deal with in Protestant Chruchs, so it annoys me to see it else where as well.

Hitler was a pseudonym for Mein Kampf.
Really? I could have sworn Hitler was Adolf Hitler. Fuhrer of the Third Reich, slaughterer of millions. And yes, author of Mein Kampf. But he wrote it as Hitler. Sounds like a pretty shitty pseudonym to me. I mean, it's his friggin name! A real pseudonym for Hitler would have gone something like "Mein Kampf, by David Ben-Gurion." That would be creative.

I think it's high time that we stop using the electoral college. We have reached the point where actual democracy can be carried out smoothly, and no longer need people to cast presidential votes for us. It would do away with all the "red america, blue america" bullsh1t and might actually allow third parties to have a shot at challenging the republicrats

Why does everyone insist on labeling states? If you look at the district returns maps, the divide is clearly between the city mice and the country mice. And in this regard, we are two different nations. I think the "we need to pull together and get beyond these divisive politics" stand thoroughly misses the point. What urban areas need and what rural areas need are not the same thing. We do not need to pull together, because the country mice get pissed off when city mice get control of the government and use federal money to build gay bath houses in the country. Likewise, the city mice get pissed when the country mice get control and they use federal money to build dirt tracks in the cities so NASCAR mice can make three-hour left turns.

The state is the break point because that's where laws get made, but even with this, upstate mice get pissed at what Manhattan mice impose on them and Austin mice get pissed at what Plano mice impose on them.

We either have to address this (changing the federal-state power model into a state-city power model) or we have to be willing to accept the fact that 49% of the population is going to be pissed at 51% of the population indefinitely.
