One difference

If I remember right the French lost EXPLOSIVES not just a bunch of wires and a clock …

To me that is a big difference

The French put blocks of plastic explosives in someone's luggage. Something that could really be dangerous.

They still haven't found them.

The atomic ones were officially "lost", but the locations are roughly known. Both are in the United States. Bombs were temporarily lost in other locations, but recovered.

Yeah, but we lost those in the ocean. It's kind of hard for terrorists to get to them there.

A lost bomb is a lost bomb. Maybe if we (humanity) stopped making bombs we wouldn't lose any.

That wouldn't work. It's too easy to make bombs. If you ban bombs only terrorists will have them. Plus bombs make blowing stuff up much easier.

How do you go about Loosing a bomb, does it slip out of your pocket and you dont notice?

Do they do classes like in oliver twist to exceptionally strong pick pockets to steal them?

Aircraft accidents and submarines accidents are the common ways that nuclear weapons are "lost". As you can imagine, they go through a lot of trouble to locate something like that.

The French recently lost some plastic explosives by putting it into a random person's luggage. Not nuclear, but foolish.

Funny, I've heard the same argument re: handguns. You'll only know you're right if you give it a concerted effort. Seems to me that a bomb is a bomb is a bomb. Whether a terrorist or a general detonates it, it'll still leave people dead.

I'd sleep more soundly if there weren't quite so many of them in existence. Limiting or eliminating bombs from military arsenals is as good a place as any to get started.
