Subject: Greeks versus Italians

A Greek and an Italian were debating one day about who had the superior culture.

The Greek said, "We have the Parthenon"

The Italian said, "We have the Colloseum"

The Greek said, "We had great Mathematicians"

The Italian said, "We had the Roman Empire" ... and so on and on

Finally the Greek said: "We invented sex."

The Italian replied, "That is true, but it was the Italians who introduced it to women"

It kinda makes me wonder where little baby greeks came from?

I don't think all women were celibate till the italians came along either? (I've kind of already said this)

I don't know alot about ancient greece, but it wasn't a single entity, it was more a group of culturally similar (though not identical) city states, and some of these states, e.g sparta, didn't have a problem with homsexuality. I'm not sure if this is accurate, maybe someone can elaborate on it?!?!

If I remember the background of this issue in ancient Greece, it was more pederasty than adult homosexuality which was accepted, although not discussed in polite society.

It wasn't discussed in polite society? I really know little about ancient greece but I have read some Plato and Aristotle. To quote from Pausanias from The Symposium by Plato:

"Common Love is truly common and doesn't care what he does. This is the Love that worthless people love. These love women as much as boys, their bodies more than their souls and they even prefer their loved ones to be perfectly mindless because all they want is action, reguardless of how it's done.

Hence theyd do what ever whatever they feel like, indifferent to the good and bad. Their Love comes from the young goddess who shared at birth in both the male and female. But Heavenly love loves boys and comes from Aprhodite who ahared not in the female but only in the male who is older and free from insolence.

As an American of Italian descent Im going to have to say Italy! But seriously, Italy is frekkin awesome!!! Think of it, they have the hottest women, the best food, the best weather/climate, the best scenary, the best tourist attractions, but they lose points because its just one big cloud of smoke, but in the words of John Lennon; "And curse Sir Walter Rally, he was such a stupid git..." -Im so tired, The Beatles.

And in the words of Romania, Nu ma Nu Ma Nu Ma ie!

Actually, Italy is one of the few places I would still love to visit, the other two being the Australian Outback and Siberia. :)
