At least some NS players seem to be politically active people. Anybody out there a current/past Debater? Specifically Policy/Cross-X debate? I just got into debate, and it's really great. (wow that rhymed) And well NS seems right up a debate-person's alley. So speak up!

I'm a debater in PFD (ted turner, public forum, whatever)

Never had a chance to really be in an organized debate, but I can debate most people under the table.

I have a never say die attitude.

I debate for a living - I'm a lawyer. Sadly the level of debate on NS tends to be less than optimal and is far from following the standard "Resolved, Reply, Rebuttal" formula and instead follows the "Resolved, You're Stupid, Oh Yeah, well so's your old man," formula.

I'm not much for formulas. At least not until they discover one to make me grow to fifty feet tall so I can rampage around the city, stepping on cars. I'm all over that! :D

I was on our debate team at college for four years. We won the National Championships in Tacoma, WA my Senior year, but that was 1965! LOL!

I do Juniour High debate.

We do parliamentory, cross-ex, impromptu, etc.

Our last topic we did was "BIRT: Canada is becoming the 51st state".

I was covering economics though, you have no idea how hard it was to find arguments economically speaking for the negative side... fortunately I wound up arguing affirmative.

I'm in a debate class, but usually, we just lay around and and speak, rather than going at it full force.

I do CX debate at my high school.

I enjoy a bit of pointless antagonistic debating but have never done it professionally.

Gave you lots of time to research and practice either the affirmative or the negative. Sometimes our professor would make us switch sides just to get a feel for what the opposite side had to go through, but some people stayed either affirmative or negative all year long.

...what kind of debate are you talking about? You can't stay aff or neg all year, they tell you which side you're on at every debate.

I'm a Lincoln Douglas debator, joy! For ours is the lazy but nonetheless superior form of debate. Ah, Lincoln and Douglas, you are my only true friends. Actually, Douglas, you're kind of an ass. I hate you. And I don't remember your first name.

I second that. There's more flaming than rational arguments here.

In high school I was on the debate team until they kicked me off for my bad grades. I'm not too bad at debating, but I'm no uber-badass-reasoner-person.

This could go a long way toward explaining why I seem to be addicted to it! Heh!

I was on the Debate Team in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years during my undergraduate studies. We won the National Championships out in Tacoma, WA my senior year, which was ... you ready for this? ... 1965! :D

I do LD deabte, extemp, and impromptu for Federal WAy, High School, in FW, Washington. First in the region (the school that is) for Speech and Deabte
