*its wrong that someone cant even show pics of Bush in his natural state this way--whats this world coming to?

NYC Gallery Removes Bush "Portrait" From Exhibit
an art exhibition featuring a portrait of President Bush has been removed from Chelsea Market after complaints from the market's owners. The New York Times reports the painting by 23-year-old Christopher Savido appears to be a likeness of the president but viewed up close reveals the portrait is in fact chimpanzees swimming in a marshy landscape. Savido said "I came to New York to express myself. I would never have expected this censorship to happen here. I really feel powerless."

I wonder if the picture was actually of the Prez in the nude or just a more typical portrait of him (as Chimps swimming in the marsh). That could really make or break this story.

A striking display of intolerance against a simple and harmless attempt at humor. No matter how dedicated you are to the US president or his goals the display of a painting such as this one in no way undermines anyone or anything. It only playes upon the innocent obsevation of a possible likeness to the president; something every political cartoonist does all around the globe.

Pathetic.

And humor is what most of us are trying to do.

I see nothing wrong about the Bush Monkeys portrait -- heck, if they can leave a crucifix in a jar of urine as an art exhibit, or a Madonna made with elephant poop, which is infinitely more upsetting to a goodly chunk of the population of NYC, I don't see why this portrait was taken down.
