How can we stop the crazies?

Nathan Gale, who shot guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and three others has been described as:

"an oddball loner who craved friendship",
"obsessed with Pantera",
"known for bizarre behaviour such as petting an imaginary dog and staring at walls while muttering to himself",
"friends said they had heard he suffered from mental illness"
"others began distancing themselves from Gale about eight months ago when he claimed Pantera stole lyrics from him and he spoke of killing others"
"He told me once that God told him to kill Marilyn Manson"

All sounds dreadfully familiar doesn't it?

Should the insane be intercepted and treated?

Or left alone until they strike out at innocents?

"He told me once that God told him to kill Marilyn Manson"
So why didn't he??? I mean, it was GOD that told him to.

It was his friends and family's fault for not getting him medical help.

If he was petting an imaginary dog and talking of killing people, wouldn't you do the same?

But it's so much easier to ignore it and pretend he doesn't exist

Fluffy's just invisible, not imaginary! And those bastards deserve what they have coming!

But what an awful way to be reminded that he does.

people who are crazy (e.g. :headbang: ), or people who shoot other people (e.g. :sniper: ) should be locked away forever, no question about it

You see no future in the treatment of the mentally ill then?

Would you think the same if it was a close relative? My grandmother is schizophrenic.

Do you really think this will remind and change people?

I don't mean to be cynical, but...well...yeah, I am in this case.

This is nothing but ripples. The only reason anyone knows what happened was because he killed someone famous.

That's a bit out of context though. I pet imaginary pets, stare blindly at walls and talk of killing others. But I'm not likely to do it. Should I be admitted to a mental home just in case?. The fact that he was insane probably had little bearing on his murder.

Do I really think this will change people? Probably not.

Do I think it valuable to pose questions and have people (myself included) think about issues? Most definitely.

Finding flaws in oneself without change is worthless.

Masterbation accomplishes more.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit hardcore here, but I do believe in this: one should always look for their flaws, and try to do everything possible to fix them. To find the flaws and do nothing about them is sheer idiocy.

How can we stop the crazies?

We can't. We can only check them at the entrance for guns, bombs, or envelope openers.
Why wasn't this a Brittany Spears concert instead?

Those that do these things are the obvious crazies and obviously need help. They probably wont get it, but in a perfect world blah, blah, blah.

It's the crazies that blend in or make it into public office/positions of authority that make me nervous. It seems like plenty of people described after the fact as quiet, nice, good neighbors just go nuts these days and cause as much, if not, more death and destruction.

Answers? I aint got no stinking answers! Wish I did, but this is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of problems. :headbang:

sadly we cant stop the crazies.sending them to U.S. asylums is immoral.check yourself in sometime, they dont want to help you, they want to lock you away so society can forget about you.so untill we have a system that helps people instead of hurting them,we can only pray for there health and then deal with those who "actully become a problem".if we dealt punishments for people who MIGHT kill people, well we would all be in jail.
