The ground of the battle of Kursk was so badly scorched, that nothing grew in it for years after.
At that battle, a single tiger tank blew out 20+ t34, the last t34's being blown out when the tiger was out of fuel.

Kursk and Stalingrad were both over-rated. Titanic, memorable battles both, but the final result of the war was decided on 22 June '41
