WASHINGTON, DC- Recent findings from the United States Secret Service showed that many forgers are paying up to $40 for new twenty dollar bill over the internet. The reason Press Secretary for the US Mint announced was, "To find the finest specimens of the new twenty and to unlock its uninterrupted secrets."
Some members of the internet auction site of EBay have been reported of selling the bills to alleged forgers. While it is not technically illegal to sell money over EBay, mainly due to the large coin collecting sub-culture on the site, EBay recently but a ban on selling any recently struck coins or printed money on the site.
The Secret Service and US Mint are afraid that the new fifty will sell for nearly $100 on smaller internet auction sites and on the street.
