They follow this archetype: You have 3 main groups of characters
1) The "religiously ignorant character trying to discover the holidays"
2) The "religious character trying to spread his holiday message"
3) The "'heathen' character who suddenly is overcome with holiday spirit at the end"
And with all the specials I've seen they take away the true reasons behind the holidays. Especially kids' specials; the are dumbed down because X-mas (or w/e holiday) specials just can't come out and say "we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ" (or w/e the holiday's real story is) 'cause it's "too contraversial."
Meh, a little contraversy is good. Am I corrupted from the philosophical controversy in the animes I watch? I don't think so; in fact I think it has improved me
If you ask me, if the holiday specials weren't so dumbed down, they might actually help foster tolerance!
