The republicans on here have made it quite clear that they voted for Bush because they hate democrats.

I say the democratic party needs to convince them that democrats are not intellectuals, don't ever ponder higher ideas, don't actually respect gays, and are just really average people, since they don't like intellectuals or gays and will never believe that democrats can be religious, too.

Actually FDR was no stranger to "dirty tricks" either. But that is hardly the point; the "Citizens of Dirtsville" raise a legitimate point btw; why DID the RNC choose NYC for its Convention?

Because its a place where the Republican party enjoys support? No. Because NYC has been moving father to the right in recent years? No. Because they wanted to reach out accross party lines? I watched the convention; no. Because constantly referring to 9/11 is a way to stir up patriotic fervor in a party that desperately needs such symbols of unity to enhance the perception of party discipline? Even as it places those moderate voices in speaking positions during the convention that have not had a say in national politics for the four years this administration has been in office? ...Yes.

Oops, you've been caught in your own lie. The reason Democrats lost is because they pointed out blatant political symbol making and deliberate use of national tragedies for self gain? Besides, that "article" was written on September 10th 2004; the election was still ongoing...how many pieces of diatribe could someone have found on blogs purporting one party or another during that period of time?

I believe the saddest part is that you actually picked two fairly well spoken and well reasoned pieces; certainly they are not "PC" in the sense that they have not been reworded to be acceptable to the very party they seek to antagonize, but they don't advocate violence, and the first one doesn't even advocate an action! It simply calls out the RNC on its misuse of a national day of morning to promote its own political goals.

The second one is a pale attempt to mimic the RNC's well documented dirty tricks divisions; trying to insinuate that the DNC lost because it tried such tricks is only half true. INSTEAD OF STOOPING TO THE RNC'S LEVEL, they should have stayed above such horrible tactics; otherwise they should actually beat them at their own game, not pussyfoot around with half-assed deceptions and pinprick attacks on induvidual RNC members.

So I guess you could be right in light of the second article, but in a most disturbing way; you actually are saying that the DNC lost in 2004 because they are not as corrupt and amoral as your own party...Because they cannot manipulate public perception to twist it to their own side as skillfully as your artful dodgers can.

Hardly as victory worth celebrating, but more power has already been given to you; I'll reserve judgement until these next 4 years are up. Let us see if you can produce anything better than more corruption and less effective leadership. As a devout moderate, I'll simply say that idealogical purity is usually as pure as yellow snow.
