Dimmu Borgir

Within Temptation

Flogging Molly

Van Dik Hout

I'm from the US, so I can only even find 2 of those bands albums without getting on a plane or getting shipped from overseas.

Rotting Christ. I am from the US, and this band is Greek.

One of Greece's most well-known and respected metal bands, Rotting Christ played a primitive, raw, black/death metal mixture early in their career, gaining some critical acclaim in particular with Thy Mighty Contract, but then decided to shift toward a slower, gloomier dark metal style starting with Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers. Harsh, raspy vocals blend with heavy, bleak guitars, lending a dark, grim mood to the proceedings. Sleep Of The Angels brightens the mood just a bid, opting for a more standard goth metal atmosphere, while the more recent Khronos is harsher, reminding some of the early days while retaining the pace of the later material. Not the easiest of listens, as the dirge occasionally gets to be just a bit much, but the band have matured greatly and the last three albums in particular are professional and worth a listen.
(From a web site about Rotting Christ)

I also like Children of Bodom and Dimmu Borgir.

Favourite band not from my country? Hard to say. There's lots of awesome metal out of Scandinavia (not just black/death metal). Hmmmm... I'm gonna say it's a toss up between Type O Negative and Opeth.

Here's a good one, The Decemberists. Never get any air time here, (being indy rock) and their from Britain, so foreign to the U.S.

Try out The Gathering. They're from the Netherlands.

They should have been picked to do the LOTR soundtrack.

U2 has been humogous for years, hell I think the world's biggest band label has been thrown around before each of their last two albums. The sad thing is they have sucked since they made it big.
