How much are your views influenced by those around you?

Do your political views tend to be the same as most of your friends and your family?
For those who are mostly surrounded by those with the same values as them, do you think that has a strong influence on your views? Would your views be different if you had been raised in an environment strongly supportive of the OTHER side?
Personally I've grown up in a fairly liberal environment, but I'm still strongly conservative... so I'd say no, my views aren't influenced much by those around me.

Obviously this is the case. No would can say that your upbringing doesn't effect how you behave, and by logical extension your views. If you come from a more well off background you are much more likely to be right wing, as in the same way you are likely to be centralist or left wing if you are middle or lower class. I come from a left wing family, so my views are towards the left, and I also share thier support for personal freedom. Anyone who says they have not been influenced is lying, becuase the human mind never creates an idea without some in put first.
Am I influenced by the views of my immediate family and my upbringing? Definetly. By my relatives and friends? No. I think most people are like this with their political views, but not all.

I tend to agree with people who threaten to kick me in the groin if I don't.
But I'm pretty stubborn. Sometimes it takes a groin kick to convince me that I don't want another.

Usually, no. Most of my family members are either moderate, extremely liberal, or only mildly conservative, whereas I'm a radical right-wing nutjob extremist conspiracy theorist.

Partially. Mostly family.
Friends.. not really. Most of my friends just talk about computer games, sports and handphones/clothes/latest junk

I think my political views were probably influence some by my family, but overall I'd say fairly little.

I'm fairly liberal, but not as much as a lot of my family. Most of my friends are conservative though. I guess I'm the moderate.
My friends and family are all politically very apathetic, so there's not much influence I could get from them. :D

More people have said they are partially influenced by others so I voted the same.

Not entirely. My parents are rather right-wing Catholics, so alot of my more conservative leanings come from them, but there are a lot of more liberal beliefs of mine (such as pro-gay marriage and pro-choice) that are a great divergence from my family. As most of my friends that I grew up with are also rather right-wing, I couldn't really tell you where I got those liberal opinions.

Yo, Davie.
To answer the poll, I would say partial as well. I grew up in a fairly conservative environment, my Grandparents hate Clinton and adore Raegan but my dad is a moderate conservative(though I turned him liberal the past year). My grandparents raised me more than my dad actually did, and I was a god-fearing teen who was sure I'm going to hell no matter what. I entered middle school and all that changed.

I'm generally more of an influencer than an influencee.
As the only Libertarian I know, I'd say I've been more disillusioned than convinced by friends and family's views.
Partially, my parents, okay my Mom mainly, and the media influece my views.
