Got an 86 on ther little asvab test thing... going into advanced electronics/computer field... 2.5 years of school, 6 years total active, 2 inactive or whatever they call that. first 9 weeks is basic training.. no access to computers at all.. after that, I doubt I will have time to play NS much.. so I must retire... ehm.. again... right so good luck to you all!

Best of luck to you! I just got back from basic. It's not so bad. Just keep your wits about you, and remember it's all a game. If I ever see you on active duty, I can't buy you lunch cause that would be fraternization, but I might wave. :)

Best heads up I can give you is be physically ready. For AF, our cadre said we should be able to run 5 miles in boots, and do 100 pushups a day to prepare. Lookup whatever the Navy PFA/PFT standards are and excel at them before you leave.

like the third day, you have to be able to run 1.5 miles in 14 minutes.. well I can do it fine here in 14 minutes, and I live way the hell up in the mountains.. so at a lower than here altitude.. i should do fine if I went how I was now. but I shall definitally be working out and running all the time now.

Definately. I'm a fairly short girl, and I run the 1.5 in about 10 minutes. Do they give you any sort of acclimation period?

Could be worse. We had 14 days to acclimate, but only cause Panama City mid-August is a shock to most people. Especially when we weren't allowed to roll up the sleeve to our BDU's.
If you want any advice preparing, I'm full of it. Don't hesitate to ask. You're gonna do awesome.

Geh. I hate needles. That's the worst part. I always have to pinch the inside of my opposite thigh when they draw blood. Gives me something else to focus on.
