Interesting story - was this a mercy killing or just an embarrassing cover up? Seems fairly interesting.

He claims it was a mercy killing. This will for sure give a boost to American popularity. :D

great, he burns him, then he shoots him . . . but seriously, how much worse can it get right? answer :a lot. it's too bad that this occupation was so fucked up, and it is also kinda funny that Britain, which for the most part just followed the US into this, (no offence, but i mean, come on) has mostly secured the south of the country while the American portion of the nation is a firey hellscape.

But it makes you wonder - how many people are going to get away with killing civilians? This may be an exceptional case, but who, aside from the military (which basically covers its own back) is watching these soldiers?

Noone will bring those soldiers to justice, except maybe the army itself.

Ahhh. So it's all OK cause it's war, right?

If I were bleeding and badly burned and there really was no way to save me I would love for someone to off me.

No it's not right, I never said that. Euthanasia(which it is basically) is not something a soldier can decide on.

Is it not possible that the soldier is the only one there to make the decision, not every soldier is as bad as you may think, not to say that they're all good, but isn't it reasonable to think that that particular soldier was making a decision that none of us will be faced with and cannot possibly understand the war is bad the government is scary but the soldiers are people just like you and I.

In case you didin't already know the soldier who shot the wounded guy in the Mosque was found guilty of murder by a military court marshall. I know that is a different incident but it shows that at least there is some accountability.

When did that happen or are you just talking out of your ass? link please..

Classicaly soldiers have offed wounded others for mercy. It's been happening as long as their has been warfare. This just happened to be caught on tape. Probably nothing new.

God damn it I'm a dolt. Actually I just saw it on aljazeera but didn't read it carefully. Actually they were just talking about the guy who shot the burned guy, that shows you what happens when you try to read the news and watch tv simultaneously. They compared the incident to the Falluja thing.

I'm sure the soldier thought it was a mercy killing. Still, there was no justifiable reason for it.

Obviously there's no justifiable reason for ending someone's suffering. Why would anyone even consider such an act?!?
