Wangar Maathai, first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, accpeting her award today in Oslo, Norway:
"In the course of history, there comes a time when humanity is called to shift to a new level of consciousness, to reach a higher moral ground. A time when we have to shed our fear and give hope to each other. That time is now."

I am heartened. I believe we are being called to shift to a higher level of consciousness as well. It feels good knowing I'm not alone in my belief. But I also feel that there are those among us who actively work to forestall this growth, and countless others who let themselves be held back, in many ways unknowingly.
Nonetheless, it's nice hearing a hopeful voice in these divisive times. Just felt like sharing.
